Jodi Barber, a Laguna Niguel mother who lost a son to prescription drug abuse, was a catalyst for the documentary Behind the Orange Curtain, which made its world premiere May 2 at the Newport Beach Film Festival, sold out four screenings there and was awarded the Orange County Filmmaking Award.

Tonight, Barber's own documentary screens in San Clemente.

Like Behind the Orange Curtain, which was directed by Brent Huff, Overtaken is about the South County prescription drug abuse epidemic that claimed the life of Jarrod Butler and many other young people.

The Parent Project, San Clemente Police Services and San Clemente High School's Parent-Teacher-Student Association present tonight's 6:30 Overtaken screening in the campus Triton Center. A discussion led by police Lt. John Coppock and featuring guest speaker Dr. Robert Winoker, medical director of Mission Hospital's Trauma Center, follows.
