Violent Criminal Cops deserve TWICE the Prison Sentence that an ordinary citizen would receive for the same crime !!

Make it so !!

You all are missing the main point. It doesn't matter if he is mentally Ill, resisted or not. He was not a criminal and committed no crime. From the get go it was an illegal arrest with no probable cause. Do the research, the report of a car break in happened hours before. This was added after the fact. This was a classic, "your suspected guilty",bully stop on him. In America, you should be able to be in public with out being interrogated by the Gestapo, then as an innocent citizen be beaten to death by the police. And the police wonder why the public is wary of them? How can you be guilty of resisting arrest, when there is no valid arrest warranted? let's our legal system sort this out, I still believe in justice in America. A lot of police are really kind hearted, good people trying to help the world. Unfortunately there are also a lot of police that are sociopathic alpha bullies.

Whats most disturbing about this video is my lack of freedom. I cant walk down the street and scratch my balls without some one watching (and I might sniff them too)The audio was so clear like it was a movie or something. Whats next a device that can read my mind. Its a win-win situation a worthless bum ,who 99% percent of you, would  most certainly avoid and be disgusted by is gone and some shitty cops in a whole lot of trouble but not really.

I would hope that the officers involved and the ones that allowed such disgrace to take place get there's in the end.. Send them to prison and let the inmates know everything. This is just wrong on so many professional levels. A man begs for life that our protectors take away. That man was harmless. Officer told him about his fist from the start. Hang em Orange county, stand up and be a Goverment.

They had no reason to even begin beating him like that... he didn't threaten them or even hit them... so why the hell? These cops are sick. He had absolutely no reason to be murdered. Pigs.

I have followed this closely since it was brought to the attention of the internet news.  I have brother that suffers from severe psychotic episodes, and has been diagnosed, or "not" diagnosed because the psychiatrists and psychologists can't precisely diagnosis him, but due to lack of psychiatrics being able to "term" his illness, his diagnosis remains Psychosis NOS (which means in laymens terms we don't know what hell is wrong with guy).  So in the case of Kelly Thomas, that fact that he didn't know his name at first, was remedial when it comes to this...my brother has several names when he is in a psychotic state...none of which are his natural born name.  What I heard hear though wasn't Kelly bringing up ficticious names or calling himself a great good...he simple tried to adhere to the officer's (if you will) demands....and for that was beaten to death.  I know a lot of people will still try and concede that he was resisting....I don't conquer with that in the slightest of notions.  What I seen here was a complete injustice for a man that did not deserve it.  Furthermore, there were more than two officers that should be held reponsible, all played a part in his death.  Ask yourself what would you do, if you seen a person being mauled by several people, begging for help, walk on by?  That is what the officer's that weren't (directly) involved did....not to mention the paramedics.....and another thing...this could have been your son, daughter, mother, sister, brother, would you want them to not have a voice?   God be with Ron, and Kelly's mother and all his family and most of all....bring the ruthless killers to serve justice as it says in the bible, eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth....

it's simple... option A: the easy way.... comply and do as you're told, or option B: which is the hard way.  this transient chose option B.  when u challenge a police department to a fight, this is the end result.

The removal of Federal taxes also opens the door to the elimination of the Federal Reserve Banking System, which presently prints and loans to the Federal Government around 13% of its fiscal requirements. The "Fed" is part of the world banking conspiracy by which private bankers have been able to create the world's money supply out of thin air for several hundred years, loaning it out at high interest.

Maybe if every officer on their force wasn't a fat ass they wouldn't need 6 of them and a taser to subdue 1 guy. Cut down on the donuts before you murder the next one pigs.

Who freaking trains these idiot cops? Who screens them? Who is responsible for making sure these 'Law Enforcement Officers' are mentally and ethically sound enough to be armed and unleashed upon the public? These cowardly thugs should have NEVER been given badges and firearms or even be allowed to carry scissors in public. Of the few encounters I've had with Orange County and LA County police officers, the one thing that has been most apparent is that THESE PEOPLE SHOULD NOT BE COPS!!! They are mentally inadequate, emotionally volatile, unstable pathetic idiots who have taken a position of authority where they can use intimidation and force upon the citizenry in order to feel better about themselves. Anyone who carries a firearm, a badge and the authority that goes with it in public should be highly trained in DIFFUSING hostile situations, AVOIDING violent confrontation using PEACEFUL psychological communication skills and have undergone vigorous mental and behavioral analysis. Police officers should be trained to use force ONLY as a last resort and that by having to use force they have FAILED their duty and obligation to take control of a situation in a civil manor. In this case there was no reason whatsoever for any of these officers to use force and there wasn't even a situation that warranted their attention... until they intentionally made one. These armed officers beat an unarmed citizen to death for NO APPARENT REASON. He had committed NO CRIME, was not causing anyone any harm and did nothing wrong. NOW HE'S DEAD. It is a very sad world we live in when the citizens are more likely to be violated, injured or killed by the police whom we pay to protect us, than by the criminals they are supposed to protect us from.

I almost got put in jail 3 years ago because,I witnessed two police officers beatting a Homeless man outside a liquor store in Anaheim and I got in front of the Homeless man and put a stop to them beatting on him...I will do it again if I see it happening....

when l was a child l was told police were there to protect you  and when my children were young l told them some police were good now l have grand children l tell them to stay away from the police as you cant trust them at all . each new law which increases police powers mean the ones that are bullies can hurt even more people and have nothing to answer for. it is no longer their job to protect and serve it has become their job to control the people

wow this is just brutal...3 armed men take 10minutes to subdue a shirtless shoeless man...they should be found guilty of manslaughter and treated like any other civilian would.

KarmaKameleonKultur

If I were the man without shirt, I would have realized that playing the "dude" ticket and flaky liberal friendly guy attitude is not why the Police are having words and making demands.

Effing around like they are casual acquaintances only provoked the authoritarian mentality in the Law Enforcement officer. Were the forces used to control the suspect disproportionate?

See for yourself, the guy was thin and unkempt, potential homeless. Homeless are not fast to the violent reactions when dealing with Police, especially if they consider it maybe a night in Police facilities *roof over head* jail cell for them if drunk and disorderly.

I believe the Police mis used forces available to them.

I also believe the personality who filmed this incident should use its camera in future to film its own suicide as that is precisely what happened the night of the incident concerned, national's integrity committed itself to a voyeuristic suicide.

I for one have personally experienced abuse by cops..i to used to look up to them until 6 cops, carried me out to the cop car like a pig to slaughter while I was saying the whole time "please dont hurt me or my baby and God help me,im 5 months pregnant, please put me down, dont hurt my baby" But NOOOO the cops threw me into the back seat of a cop car like I was a carcass, on first try of throwing me in,they hit my head hard against the side of the car but they didnt care. I could have easily died from head trauma but they didnt care. To them I was the criminal "piece of shit". I can remember one cop telling me to quit calling for Jesus cause He (the cop) was Jesus.ughhh.Im just thankful my son was ok but it so easily could have gone bad. R.I.P. Kelly Thomas I will never forget this awful video and hearing your sad words my friend, such a helpless feeling that I can relate to but you my friend were done so wrong and million times worse. Im just glad they got it on video and I pray we will get justice for you. Im so sorry.

Cops are a Gang with Guns and Badges they protect them selfs first. There are more bad cops then good cops I Think they need to train cops  to better deal with people who have mental problems Most of the people who are Homeless deal with some kind of mental disabilty and to train are Cops with the tax money we pay would be less then putting all the cops in prison. At one Time I had a problem the fullerton cops they assume i was using a $100 that was a fake and when the cop took me to holding to find out if it was real or a fake in the car the officer told me "i was hoping you would run because i have not use my new gun yet" And i thought what was wrong with this guy. The $100 was real just an old one. we moved out of fullerton a week later.

These particular "cops" are just thugs in uniform. They killed this guy, plain and simple. I'm no cop hater, but these individuals should at least be charged with man slaughter. Period.

Murder?  I don't think so.  Negligent Homicide?  Manslaughter?  If they are not charged with one of these two crimes, then there really is no justice.Having read quite a few of the posts on here regarding this man's death, I have realized that my total lack of faith in mankind is totally justified.  Most of you just want to crucify the cops, or Mr. Thomas' family.  Some of you want to say that the officers were justified in what they did.  Only a handful of you can look at it from both sides and see the injustice on both sides of the incident.  My hat is off to those of you in the last category.Take a step back and look at this thing subjectively.  Mistakes were made on both sides.  Mr. Thomas', while being mentally ill, did not comply with the officer's instructions.  Was this his fault?  We cannot judge that, we were not there.  We don't know the full history of his contact with the police, nor do we know what was going through his mind at the time.  Bottom line is, we are not him.For those of you that make the argument that he was too mentally ill, or not inthe right state of mind to fully cooperate with the officer's directives, you are probably right.  A Schizophrenic off their meds is in no condition to follow any sort of rational direction. Were the officers justified in the amount of force being used to subdue this man?  Again, we were not there.  From the video, it looks as if they used excessive force.  But I ask all of you, have you ever tried controlling a schizophrenic, off meds mind you, and keeping him subdued.  It's hard enough trying to help them rationalize reality, let alone when in a physical confrontation.  Now, don't get me wrong, I am not saying that it should have taken that many officers to bring the guy under control, but again, we weren't there and don't know. Now for the real subject at hand.  The cop that delivered the punishing blows to Mr. Thomas' head repeatedly with a flashlight.  This guy was way out of line.  With that many officers on scene, there was no justification for that type of beating.  He should be charged with manslaughter at the very least.  And the rest of the officers involved in the incident should either loose their jobs, or be charged with accessory. Was the initial responding officer in the wrong for his attitude towards Mr. Thomas from the very start?  YES.  Was Mr. Thomas in the wrong for resisting the officers?  YES.  Was excessive force used?  YES.  Was the punishment equal to the infraction?  Absolutely Not!The saddest part of this whole thing, is the suffering of the families of both Mr. Thomas and the officers involved in his death.  They are the ones who will suffer the most, no matter what the outcome in court.  Please stop for just a moment and think of how they must feel in this. And to those of you who will want to cuss me out and call me all kinds of childish names because of this posting... Please feel free to do so.  But remember, the reason you feel that way is because, deep down inside, you think I may just be right.

I'm no expert, but I'm smart enough to know when the poe tell someone to get on the ground, the best thing to do is just do it! I've never see anyone win a confrontation on the street with the police, EVER! A 6 year old ghetto kid will even know this! There is always plenty of time later to complain and go after those that you think may have done something wrong, but that time is not while on the street. The video distrubed me too, but I also know it's near impossible to get some crazed person under control at times without force being applied. The part that disturbs me the most is the cop hitting him in the face with the flash light and later saying he beat the shit out of his face. That bothers me. But even so, I'll wait for the final verdict. Things are not what they always appear and all of this could have been avoided by the guy just doing as he was told and dealing with whatever injustices he felt he had undergone at a later time. All of you should not be so quick to judge. None of us were there and the video, although distrubing at times, doesn't always tell the real story.

This is why police unions need to be abolished, just like in the military.

It has given too many police officers a blank check to act in such cruelty without fear of accountability. Removing bad cops has become almost impossible.

There should be a study & report as to how many brutality & excessive force complaints have been made through out Orange County by citizens to force a Federal & State investigation as to the training and practices of the police agencies who are suppose to protect & serve us and not be judge, jury & executioner. I find it amazing that the California Highway Patrol, a police agency who stop thousands of motorist a day, investigate crimes and respond to calls in rural areas hardly are in the limelight for excessive force, police brutality and killing innocent citizens. Orange County is not a ghetto and most of us have respect for law enforcement. It just feels like law enforcement has no respect for us.

there should be WAY more oversight in/with cops daily activities and the prosecuters, judges, police, and public should stop protecting and ignoring the fact that the police are now just a bunch of lying thugs committing crimes and hold them to the same word of the law they are suppossedly paid to uphold and enforce...when they start holding them to the same standard as the rest of america like firing, charging, fining etc... (and not some mock "soft" trial) then maybe the public will respect and believe in them again...until then FTP I dont trust them as far as I can throw them and hope 90% all get shot in the face for how they treat people

This is a very well written comment and I can say I totally agree with you. Unfortunately, the FPD has left a bad taste in my mouth from previous experiences (not personally, just observations) of how they "restrain" individuals or handled certain situations with unnecessary force. It really just sickens me that it had to get to this point before it was truly recognized (this feeling aimed at the officer who beat Kelly with the flashlight or the officer making unnecessary comments about "his fists"). You made very valid points for this situation - again, great comment.

About 20you people are going to come tell you he was schizophrenic (which apparently means he was harmless, and doesn't have adrenaline glands somehow), 100 are going to tell you to kill yourself (or otherwise offend you), and maybe too or three will come and agree with you, with minimal amendments to your statement. I'm the latter. If he cooperated he would be alive.
