I'm a family friend, Guys disaster like this is a consequence of series of incidents, wish someone had counselled them before this,

And here we all seems to be passing a verdict against Tony! Any one tried to understand what lead a happy family to this? how come a guy so sombre and soft could do this to his own wife he had a love marriage, and his three darling kids??? I've heard  good words from Tony's parents about Jalina & kids, than how come? may be in our busy professional life today we're missing out on our precious family relations...

Pls dont be so judgemental guys...Tony is still one of us, I'm not trying to shield him but it's only humans who make mistake.

Any news about the proceedings and the real reason behind the murder?

Just because you consider yourselves 'family friends' does not mean you know them. I doubt that their own relatives even knew the whole story. Here is what someone wrote:

If she was abused previously I'm sure she didnt feel comfortable announcing it to the world. She was a loving wife and always tried her best to help her husband deal with his issues. Unfortunately no one was there to look out for her. RIP.

I worked with Shalabh in Boston area and I know him very well.  To say that I'm shocked and greatly disturbed is an understatement.  He is one of the most soft spoken and sensible person I ever knew .. I never once heard his voice raised let alone temper or anger. The way our lives are structured these days is there are very few outlets left to vent out frustrations and they get pent up until unthinkable happens ... offcourse these are all theories and we will go back to our lives while lives of 5 people are turned upside down forever

I do not even know Jalina but ever since I heard about this horrible news,  I can't stop thinking about their kids.  In a moment, everything drastically changed for the kids.  I pray to God for these kids to be able to move on with their life.  I am a mother of young children.  What went wrong with this family?  Why did this happen?  People should seek help when they need help.

Please God protect these kids forever!

What is wrong with you people.  Jalina was an amazing mother, colleague and friend.  Domestic Violence is no joke, this is truly sad and my heart goes to her chilldren, friends and family

Oh i'm heartbroken to read this, I worked with Jalina a few years back - she was a sweet lady and a loving mother. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends during this very sad time!

As a person who knew Jalina for a long time, I can say that she was an angel, devoted her life to the children and family.  We all are going to miss you.

I get so sad reading this. I hope kids find a good home. Jalina was a great person, great friend and a wonderful mom.

You will be missed Jalina. I hope your children grow up to remember you as the strong, beautiful, loving and devoted mother that you were. You deserved better. Children if/when you read this know that life is not always fair but you are strong enough to have faced this horrible reality. You are each so talented so pursue your dreams and know in your angelic hearts that your mother is so proud of you and is looking down upon you with a smile.

There's a lot of speculation in these comments just based off the DA's press release.  There are many ways someone can be technically strangled and it doesn't always mean choking but could result from a karate chop type blow to the neck.   Choking would require some level of intent during the moment but a karate chop to the neck could be accidental if say the assailant meant to hit or slap the face with a lot of force but missed or the victim moved.  Regardless though, even if Rastogi had no intention of killing her, his violent actions resulted in just that and he is still 100% guilty for that. 

Strangling someone requires a great amount of effort and time. One would have to make a conscious effort to keep up with the force it requires to continue suffocating the person. You look directly at the victim and try to block their screams but instead it makes you more powerful and you put more force with your hands surrounding their throat. So Shalabh Rastogi kills her and drags or carries his wife's body to the closet. Does that show regret? For hours the dead body was in the closet. Enough time to have him come out of shock and to go cry to the body if he had any regrets or if he had indeed killed her in a moment of anger. Instead he waited..then calls and says "I killed my wife." he did NOT say "i did it accidentally, i'm sorry" once again no regret. Luckily children were not home. In this type of case we usually see a sign that the parent panics and starts thinking about the future when he is faced with the questioning eyes of children. In this panic he kills the children and then himself. He justifies it by telling himself that they will have to suffer no more. Let's all take a moment and pray for the safety and well being of the children and for the family of the victim

I'm Jalina's friend. I'm shocked 2  hear this news and devastated. The innocent kids dont have any parents. For one minute lets not think about our friendship with Tony. If someone random had murdered Jalina, we would be filled with anger. We would want to see the person responsible behind bars for a lifetime with no chance of parole. Now we find out that it's her husband, the one person we would least expect it to be is responsible and all of a sudden we stop talking about how we want to see the person responsible suffer for eternity? Is no one thinking about what his one mistake did to the family of Jalina, most important to the children who lost their mother. for the rest of their lives they will not only have to cry themselves to sleep every night. there father gifted them with a torture of crying every mothers day and being angry and sad on every fathers day. When someone will ask them what happened to their mother, the innocent child will have no choice but to be reminded that THEIR FATHER STRANGLED THEIR MOTHER! they will be confused for the rest of their lives. My heard is aching for the pain the kids will go through. I want to be the first one to say that I want to see Shalabh being punished to the fullest extent. He left all Jalina's friends family and the children in tears and anger for eternity. If this person gets less than 25 years in prison. I will protest. Who is with me?

Jalina....May your soul rest in peace... ! I hope & pray that the kids are well looked after & get over this horrible situation during their prime age.....Prayers can do wonders & are the best medicine for any calamity when nothing else can be done. Kids - you are in my prayers.

Never talk to the police.  Shalabh should have called his attorney first. 

there is no argument that should or would lead to killing anyone.. this guy did not even care about his kids.. they are very smart and intelligent kids..

I'm a neighbor of the family and my heart goes out to the kids whom I saw daily playing outside.  I have to say this has been somewhat of an eye opening life changing event for me because you would never have suspected anything was wrong more or less that such a thing could happen to this otherwise seemingly happy family.   I saw the husband outside being questioned and later arrested by the police.  He looked completely in shock, distraught, and wouldn't speak much except when he asked about his kids and then he completely broke down.  I hate to speculate but it didn't seem like it was premeditated.  

Guys, if you have a hot temper and tend to be violent just leave during an argument before others and yourself have to face severe consequences.
