Chad Wanke, OC Vector Control District Trustee/Placentia Councilmember, Smacked Down for Missing Too Many Board Meetings
|Wanke: A wanker?|
One of those trustees is Chad Wanke, whose political day job is serving as councilmember in Placentia, specifically as mayor pro tem. He attended the montly meeting of the OCVCD in April, which came as a surprise to his fellow trustees. See, Wanke hadn't attended a single meeting this year until then, and never offered an excuse--and that got OCVCD Board President James Gomez angry.
In an April 16 letter addressed to the Placentia City Council, Gomez--who's also a La Habra councilmember--alerted Wanke and his colleagues that Wanke had missed three consecutive OCVCD meetings, which meant Wanke was in danger of getting the boot.
"The law provides that if a Trustee ceases to discharge the duties of the office for three consecutive months," Gomez wrote, "he/she vacates his/her office unless sick or out of state with permission."
According to OCVCD director of communications Jared Dever, Wanke has yet to provide the district with reasons for missing the meetings in January, February, and March of this year, which means all of his absences remain unexcused. Not a good way to set a moral example as mayor pro tem for the kiddies of Placentia, playing hooky on the taxpayer's dime, Chaddy Boy--what's up?
