Atheist Group Bungles Billboard, But The Bible is Still Stupid, They Say

atheistflood.jpg
The so-called "brights" -- a funny term many skeptics and atheists have given themselves -- know when to take their medicine.

A new billboard put up by the Backyard Skeptics at the American Legion parking lot in Midway City apparently got the math wrong in describing the supposed amount of rainfall it took to flood the planet, according to the Biblical account in the book of Genesis.

The billboard reads: "Noah's Flood - 8712 inches per hour = Nonsense. What other Biblical nonsense is there?" According to the group, the correct height would be 8715 inches per day, measured to the height of Mount Everest

Bruce Gleason, founder of Backyard Skeptics, said the mistake was made in preproduction, but that doesn't matter, because the Bible is still full of nonsense. Many Christians believe they can use a Bronze-aged book to guide their lives, but in reality they are "cafeteria Christians," people who pick the verses that suit them while discarding the rest, he said in a statement.

"In addition, there are many verses that if obeyed, would quickly land a Christian in jail," Gleason said. "This proves that even Christians don't believe the entire Bible, but instead choose which verses are moral and which are not applicable. In my opinion these Christians are more moral than the God they believe in."

The Backyard Skeptics are the largest Orange County-based skeptics and atheist group.

First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires.  They will say, "Where is this 'coming' he promised?  Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation."  But they DELIBERATELY forget that long ago by God's word the heavens existed and the earth  was formed out of water and by water.  By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed.  2 Peter 3:3-6   http://atheistlegitimacy.blogs...

What the original poster was referring to was:  A 'water canopy'  Genesis 1:6, 7 - This may sound crazy to many people.  But it says this: Gensis 1:6 "Then God said, “Let there be a space between the waters, to separate the waters of the heavens from the waters of the earth.”  So there was a completely different atmosphere on earth, prior to the flood.   Scientists discover new things that make the old scientists sound like idiots every year.  Did they not just dig up a Dino that changed the entire "supposed" timeline?  So why does this have to be so crazy.

The concept is that when this water came crashing down, it also changed the landscape of the earth.  That valleys became larger, and mountains became taller.  So as the original poster said.  There may have been a Mt Everest prior to the flood, but it wouldn't have been nearly as tall.

This is true today - Mt. Everest gains more and more inches/feet each year.  Imagine if there was a catastrophic climatic event?

Does that mean Mount Ararat is nothing more than a pimple on Gods ass?And people wonder why I'm a Buddhist.

Let's see them go after the Koran.

And Christians -- notice this little prig has decided to go after the only acceptable religious group -- have the 'New Testament', which pretty much overrides most of the old testament.

(But not its injunction against buggery -- public health will tell you the Hebrews were right about that one)

"Mountains as high as Everest were not in existence prior to the global flood of Noah's day. "

Have you searched professional help?!?

This is typical of people who are blinded by their own pride and hatred. They don't bother to check facts, just make broad assumptions without knowledge, then put down the opposing side as "silly" with their zeal, not according to knowledge. This is called a "Straw Man" argument and everyone knows it is totally invalid and it only shows how passionate these people are about spreading their own brand of lies.

Mountains as high as Everest were not in existence prior to the global flood of Noah's day. The earth was much smoother, with higher valleys and lower peaks. In fact, if the earth was a perfect sphere, we would be under 2 MILES of water.

So check your facts again, mockers. I will bet there are many families who could have benefit from the money spent on this useless hate-filled ignorant billboard.

I pray for the sad, twisted individuals who would go to such great lengths to avoid reality, which is such: 1. You are a sinner (we all are)2. You have a loving God who has offered a way to salvation, away from your sins of pride of life, lust of the eyes and lust of the flesh. This is a FREE gift.3. When you realize your error, all you have to do is trust Jesus Christ to change you for good and change your eternal address to heaven, rather than hell which is where this attitude will take you.

OK, let's do a little arithmetic here.

I think you'll agree that Mt Ararat was in existence at the time of the flood? Its height is a bit less than 17,000 ft.Therefore, Everest, apparently has grown a minimum of 29,000 -17,000 = 12000 feet. About 4000 years since the flood yields 3 feet per year, clearly a ludicrous conclusion.

Its height hasn't significantly changed in the last thousand years, so now we're up to 4 feet per year.

The claim appears to be that Ararat wasn't as high, either, leading to the even laughable conclusion that Everest had to grow at around, say, 7 feet per year ((29000 - 8000)/3000) for the statement to have any semblance to truth.

It appears that there are definitely some people around with a very loose grasp on reality.

While Everest is growing and is taller now than it was thousands of years ago, it was not exactly some unassuming little hillock in pre-Christian times. Also, there are no other mountains as far above mean sea level as Everest even now; that's why Everest is the highest mountain on earth.

I trust Jesus Christ to change me. I just don't trust any of His followers.

No mountains prior to 3,000 years ago, okaaay ...

with goofy statements like that you can hardly hope to win folks over.

Oh, wait, i get it you're actually parodying the young-earthers to make a counter-point, well done.
