Lake Forest Writer Published in L. Ron Hubbard Anthology
Scott Barnes' story "Insect Sculptor" was recognized during the event's L. Ron Hubbard Writers and Illustrators of the Future Contests, and he saw the story published in the "L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume XXVIII", which will be released soon.
We haven't confirmed if the winners also receive free passes up the Bridge to Total Freedom.
Barnes was born in San Diego and spent his early years working on the family farm in Julian, where he raised apples and beef cattle.
Wanting to be a writer from an early age, Barnes got his bachelors degree in journalism and Spanish, and travelled to Mexico City and Paris, picking up flamenco guitar along the way.
Eventually, he was accepted into Odyssey, the fantasy writing workshop, which he accomplished in 2008. He edits the online magazine NewMyths.com and has completed a fourth-grade illustrated reader "Rancho San Felipe" with award-winning illustrator Sarah Duque, to be published by the Wieghorst Western Heritage Center in September.
