Margie Rice, Ancient Westminster Mayor, Still Hates Vietnamese After All These Years

Rice: Doesn't mind wearing ao dais if it gets her votes
Today, Westminster is the heart of Little Saigon, but for decades it was a nasty place where white made right--this was the setting for the Mendez, et al vs. Westminster, et al case after all. And the last bastion of that old guard is longtime Mayor Margie Rice, a coffin-dodger if ever there was one, who seems to be surviving the ravages of age solely on the power of her own anti-Vietnamese bile.

Back in 2006, Rice opposed naming a street in Westminster after Yen Do, the late, legendary editor of Nguoi Viet, because "This is America, not Vietnam. You've got to draw the line somewhere." Rice is at it again, now implying the city's Vietnamese drivers cause too many accidents and will overwhelm the city if only given a chance.
The latest controversy emerged with a request by 400 Buddhist monks to march on the sidewalks of Bolsa Avenue from Nguoi Viet's office to Magnolia Avenue, then to Bushard Street, then back to their starting point. The Westminster City Council agreed to give the monks a special permit to undertake such an endeavor by a 3-1 vote, with the retrograde Rice dissenting.

"You can't even drive through Bolsa safely," she said as reason for voting against the march. Bolsa, of course, is the heart of Little Saigon and seen in the Orange County imagination as a scene of chaos much like the "Me so horny" segment of Full Metal Jacket. And then Rice made matters worse by adding, "They say 300 or 400, and then they'll have 1,000."

Who are "they," Margie? Vietnamese? Asians? Yellow menace?

What's amazingly hypocritical, of course, is how Rice manages to wear ao dais whenever it can earn her votes from the very electorate she despises. Thank God Rice was outvoted by the Vietnamese-majority city council, and those Buddhist monks will have their day. Geez, when will Rice retire already and move to Arizona?

Margie will do anything for the spotlight.  We had our mother's, Grace Eppersons funeral yesterday, Friday, April 20th at Westminster Memorial Park.  I had told to Margie TWICE about not speaking at my mother's service, she could speak afterward at mom's church, Celebration Christian Fellowship.  After twice being told, she had written a speech for the funeral.  I had to stand up at the service and tell Margie in front of everyone at the Chapel to sit down and not speak, she did..  I was so disguisted with the whole situation.  That's you're Mayor.  It was about my mother, not politics.....................

I am not a fan of Vietnamese either so kudos to her. The problem with Vietnamese is they are mostly very rude, buy primarily asian made products and automobiles, have little or no support for the USA only what they can garnish from America, scam many of the social programs for all the free money and food they can and more.

I wish they would all go back to Vietnam to be honest.

Margie is a nutcase!  I'm Vietnamese and must agree that Asian drivers can be bad drivers, especially the older folks.  Before Margie mouths off, she should look at the hundreds of business that do not have enough parking.  Corner with 10 business, 30 parking spaces, and 15 that are taken up by employees.

Who approved and signed off on those permits; Margie and her gang.  Why?  Millions in business related revenue.  Now a few caucasian constituents are complaining about the traffic congestion and Margie has her panties in a bunch.

I watch Margie and councilmen on TV all the time.  The entire council are idiots, pardon my Vietnamese.  Andy Douche Quach is the biggest corruption clown around.

Maybe she remembers the days when Westminster was, you know, and American, white, working class, quiet, tidy suburb without Southeast Asian gangs, ethnic nepotism, or 'coffee bars' featuring B-girls in pasties.

The fact that Westminster has been taken over demographically and political is yet another data point showing why whites should oppose mass immigration. Really, are some noodles in watered down beef broth worth losing your country, your heritage?

Maybe someone should whisper in her ear politely, and suggest to her that it is time to retire.

I respect your general hate for the Vietnamese people and am emphatic over the turmoil our people have bestowed upon you; however, let me just point out that this country is founded and fueled by immigrants from all parts of the country. The hard working class non unionized who don't fight big business and live off of the fundamental rule of supply and demand. Vietnamese people don't buy asian made products because they are from asia? those that buy it do so because the prices are justified. That argument is pointless and baseless. I would in fact argue the opposite but we can't prove any of it so whats the use.

One tidbit I'd also like to add... asian automobile manufacturer are doing more in the US than you probably think. Why don't you check your parts list on your Ford or GM and find out how many parts are bought from US supplier / distributors that make their products overseas. Almost 80% of many GM's are made entirely from Mexico and China. While companies like Hyundai, Toyota, and Honda are creating factories here in the US, BRINGING jobs into the USA that have otherwise left.

Look my people are not perfect, we're definitely different. Is that so bad? There was a time when many caucasian's were segmented against each other too. The Vietnamese people are traditionally a very hard working assimilated community whose focus is to add development and production in whatever community they reside in. If that is against your America, then maybe you need to move to Wisconsin.

You mean back when it was German, xenophobic and full of ethnic nepotism and people who beat up anyone that didn't look white? Yeah, let's go right back to those enlightened times. (rolls eyes)

But please, feel free to beat the panic drum. White people, your days are numbered, soon we'll be counting pesos in Chinese sweatshops, etc., etc., please shut up.

Your comments get more and more pathetic by the day. Before Vietnamese came to OC, Westminster was Garden Grove with a cemetery.

David, let's make a deal.

I won't  lecture you about post-War Paramus history and demographics, and you won't lecture me about post-War OC history and demographics. MM-kay?

Yeah, and Garden Grove in the 'baby boom' era was also a decent, white working/lower middle class suburb -- the fastest growing city in the US at one time. It had the strawberry festival when there were still actual strawberry fields there (which I worked, albeit as a toddler doing U-pick). That big church called St. Columbans -- built by white folks.

Plus it produced GG's only real claim to national fame, Steve Martin.

You are as much an expert on Orange County history as you are on pedophiles at St. Edward.
