American Civil Liberties Union Caravan Blasting Immigration Laws Coming to Santa Ana

Van-stickers-Arizona-plate.jpg
The American Civil Liberties Union caravan stopping in Santa Ana at high noon Monday to draw attention to the damage done by immigration laws like Arizona's is sure to include a hippie van with stickers all over it. Only some messages will be in Spanglish, and Jerry Garcia's Dead head will be replaced by Joe Arpaio's. Find out at Centro Cultural, 313 N. Birch St., where the cross-country Estamos Unidos campaign caravan is expected two days before the U.S. Supreme Court hears oral arguments in Arizona v. United States, appealing a lower court decision blocking much of SB 1070.

The caravan will have left San Francisco Sunday and arrive in Orange County after spending the morning at East Los Angeles College. It's expected to end in South Carolina on May 1.

On hand are people who have collected and shared stories about the harm done by policies that require public officials to report suspected undocumented immigrants and allow cops to stop motorists at random due to their perceived immigration status. Legal eagles from the ACLU will also dispense information about the constitutional rights that extend to citizens and non-citizens alike.

Check out more about the campaign at www.miaclu.org. There or along the caravan route, people will be asked to sign a petition urging President Obama to reform federal immigration policy and to continue his opposition to SB 1070 copycat laws.

I am white and just lost a job because the 2 people that I talked to that decided to hire me gave me one training session and expected me to know everything on the same day as my hire, the regional manager told me that I was at a 6 out of a total 10 on a scale of one to 10 for a crossing guard position for schools and told me that I was not vocal enough, but one of the kids passed me by and told me that I was a better guard than the regional manager that was standing there with me and I don't know if he heard that kid say that but I thought it was  funny and said thanks to that kid. The female manager told me that she wanted a direct phone line to me but I don't have a cell phone and I'm glad because the things are a pain in the ass. So one job down on to the next one. These 2 people were Spanish and were speaking spanish to me while in my presence. This should tell you something.

This is a good thing if you're a LEGAL Citizen as opposed to illegal because the ACLU defends the freedom of speech rights for Americans all the way to the Supreme Court because the Constitutions 14th amendment says so. But there are articles that say that the Supreme Court is still stuggling with these issues. Do you think that the Supreme Court is legit on these issues? I don't because no one has a right to tell you to shut up. Your voice belongs to you.

"On hand are people who have collected and shared stories about the harm done by policies thatrequire public officials to report suspected undocumented immigrants andallow cops to stop motorists at random due to their perceived immigrationstatus."

Will there also be "on hand" LEGAL immigrants sharing stories about how hard they worked to obtain LEGAL residency, and once they did, how they LEGALLY obtained an education. job and housing...and let's not forget, that they LEGALLY pay their taxes and pledge loyalty and allegiance to the country that gave them this opportunity? Or will they be drowned out by the bull horns of people who believe they should enter this country ILLEGALLY, obtain services, ILLEGALLY and then spit on the laws of this land by doing so?.

This rally is nothing but a bunch of whiners who do not want to have to go through the legal channels to be here. PERIOD.

I dare any one of you to go outside and grab the first person you KNOW is here illegally just by looking at them. Odds are you'd be wrong. The thing about this is you end up treating EVERYONE like a criminal because you can't figure out who's really the criminal the way these fools do it.

How dare authorities try to enforce our federal immigration laws. Just shameful.

I don't agree with you at all since the founders of this country suckered immigrants to serve in the army of revolution with out being paid for their services. So why should their descendents made up people like you think that they are living here legally just because they pay taxes.

Ok, here is where I go conservative... If you are in this country illegally, you have NO (0) "right" to receive ANY form of welfare/state aid/state services. I paid for it and for an illegal to claim it is THEFT!  Plain and simple.  IF you want the right to claim any form of state (tax) paid services and benefits then you need to be here LEGALLY!   Period.  Also with that said, If you come/ came here legally...Welcome my brother!

And the Republinuts just voted in the House and passed $33 Billion in cuts to the food stamp program and took food out of people's mouth's, so is that ok with you Kris Rosvold? What if you were starving. It has to pass the Senate where it will be dwinled down to maybe $6 Billion.
