VIDEO: UCI Students Stage Silent Protest Against Israeli Soldiers

This is a much better tactic than trying to prevent a speaker from saying whatever he wants on a campus, so I appreciate students are on the the right path.

I don't know if these are the same two Israelis that gave a talk in Santa Cruz a couple weeks ago. If they were I would have liked to attended this event based upon what a friend who went that event shared with me. I heard they shared the speakers shared their own experiences opinions and had an open discussion with anyone in the audience.

It is a shame the students who walked out didn't take advantage of a open discussion given this opportunity.

I know they will say they were being talked at so they wouldn't be seen as equals but that kind of is their mindset -- that they are the underdog or whatever. Just talk to people. See if there can be any mutual understanding. Maybe the speakers might learn something from you and you can learn something from them. Don't just consider them the others or "war criminals". If there is ever going to be peace, there will have to be discussion and understanding of a different perspective.

The comments on the video wrote this explicitly "Students at the University of California, Irvine exercised their constitutional rights and staged a walk-out as a form of protest to the coming of Israeli Defense Force soldiers on their campus.

They took a stand for human rights, human values, and morality.

Free Palestine and every land or people that are being oppressed.

NOTE: Although there were many Muslim students present, this protest was not held by the Muslim Student Union at UCI, but rather by concerned students about who their University allows on their campus. " How can anyone say it is MSU-UCI ?

Quick question... What was the MSU's stance on the Associated Students calling for the immediate removal of Hazem H. Chehabi from the UCI Board of Trustees?

Clearly you have no idea what you're talking about and are not concerned with what is factual, only with whatever supports your biases about the MSU and/or any organization that dares to criticize Israel...the MSU has had a number of events against the brutal and murderous Syrian regime...displays, posters, flash-mobs...CLEARLY your own biases and pre-judgements would make it impossible for you to care about researching that before making ignorant statements. And the MSU's stance on Hazem Chehabi is the same as any sane, humane and intelligent student- that he be removed from the Board of Trustees.

FACT - The UCI MSU has staged multiple protests against Israeli guest speakers. FACT - The UCI MSU has invited Malik Ali to speak on campus where he said this...

“You Jews…y’all the new Nazis!”

So UCI Student... Where am I biased? I speak facts and have pointed to actual events sponsored by the UCI MSU... And the best part was they invited these hate mongers to speak during UCI's Holocaust Memorial week. So when the campus should be reflecting on one of the most horrific crimes against humanity the UCI MSI is trotting out speakers who would prefer the systematic annihilation of the Jews continue and that Isreal be wiped off the map... Its one thing to criticize the government of Israel... Something entirely different to make bigoted, hate filled remarks.

I asked a question... What was their stance? In a week when the Associated Students were voting to have Chehabi removed from the Board where was the UCI MSU?

They were still conspiring to disrupt a speech by Jews... Like I said, they have made their priorities clear.

A typical response from a MSU member will be they aren't against Jews. They are against Zionists.

They don't see calling for the end of Israel as a Jewish state as anti-Jewish. They don't think Jews should have the rights of self-determination and use the term Zionist like it is an insult.

They do not seem to be willing to listen to any perspective other than their own. At least at this event, they allowed other people to hear the speaker.

They consider themselves moral and fighting for justice. But their sense of justice isn't isn't shared by everyone and since they are unwilling to listen to a different perspective this creates a problem.

First Syrians were not there and Syria is not funded by the US. This is was a silent protest. Can't someone get up and quietly leave without people like you calling them names? At least they are not sending commandos to kill unarmed volunteers to supply food and supplies to Palestinians which were blockaded by Israel. Attempting to label all Arabs the same is the same bigotry that perpetuates ant-senitism. Israel has 50 political parties. If the Israeli government did not filter the news that left the country we in America would know that the political opinion ranges in Israel from conservative to very liberal. And don't forget, Israel clandestinely built atomic bombs for themselves. Would it have been O.K. for any Arab state to bomb Israel to prevent a power Imbalance?

The UCI MSU has a history of Anti Semetic behavior... just take a look at who they have invited to speak and the Micheal Oren Incident. So no this is not in fact an attempt to "label" them. As far as the commandos raiding supply ships carrying aid.. I guess if by "aid" you're referring to Iranian made military equipment then you are correct. and the Israelis have every right to protect their sovereignty... Also it is theorized that Israel has a nuclear weapon and has never been confirmed...
