An Anaheim man is to be arraigned this morning on charges of sexually assaulting two boys, ages 9 to 11, and possessing graphic child pornography featuring young boys.

Held on $1 million bail, Oscar Manuel Vaquera, 37, faces up to 45 years in state prison if he is convicted.

The Anaheim Police Department last year traced a download of child pornography to an Anaheim home where Vaquera rented a bedroom. An investigation was launched, and a search of the house on March 1 of this year produced videos and photographs of graphic child pornography, "both commercial and amateur," on Vaquera's computer, according to the Orange County District Attorney's office (OCDA). Cops then arrested Vaquera.

But the ongoing investigation unearthed something more disturbing. A hole had been drilled from the closet in Vaquera's room to the bathroom, where boys not related to him and residing in other rooms in the home were secretly photographed and videotaped as they showered, the OCDA charges.

Worse, it was discovered that Vaquera touched the penis of a sleeping 11-year-old boy who visited a family member some time in 2007 or 2008, an unreported crime that the accused recorded video of, according to the OCDA. Another unreported crime involved a boy 9 to 11 years old who, some time between 2009 and 2011, has his penis touched while awake by Vaquera, who also recorded video of that, prosecutors allege. Neither boy was related to Vaquera.

He is charged with three felony counts of lewd acts on a child under 14, two felony counts of possession of child pornography, and one felony count of distributing child pornography with sentencing enhancement allegations for lewd acts against more than one victim and substantial sexual conduct with a child. Besides the maximum 45-year sentence, he faces lifetime sex offender registration if he is found guilty. His arraignment is to being at 10 a.m. in the Santa Ana Men's Central Jail.
