OC Police: St. Patrick's Day DUI Checkpoints a Success

Time to call a taxi
During the St. Patrick's Day weekend when folks were gulping loads of green beer, Orange County thankfully endured zero related traffic fatalities and, in response, the sheriff's department is hailing the effectiveness of law enforcement sobriety checkpoints.

From 6 p.m. March 16 to 6 p.m. yesterday, cops from 38 area law enforcement agencies reported making 64 DUI arrests, according to a press release from the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

The next big, countywide anti-DUI checkpoint campaign will be conducted during Cinco de Mayo and Memorial Day weekend in May.

Funding for the overtime pay for involved local cops is provided by federal taxpayers because federal politicians (who obviously don't accept the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution) believe the federal government needs to play a role in neighborhood DUI checkpoints.

Wow, a possible point of agreement with an OC Weekly staffer. What's next, criticizing No Child Left Behind (or whatever fed education boondoggle we are on now).

Dude... Thats false advertising... I clicked on the link under the impression that Courtney Love was pinched for DUI!

There is no possible way we three agree on two things in one day... No I refuse to accept it!

Yep, laziness. At least use a picture of Heather Locklear since she used to live in OC.
