Matt Drudge Blamed By California Conservative For Helping To Elect Barack Obama President

Ziegler makes explosive news on Drudge/Obama bromance
A former Los Angeles radio show host is claiming today that Democrat Barack Obama won the presidency in 2008 with the secret assistance of the grand daddy of Republican bloggers: Matt Drudge.

John Ziegler, a conservative activist who gained fame in Southern California for his talk shows on LA powerhouse station KFI-AM from 2004 to 2007, wrote in a column he had living proof that at critical points in the last election Drudge erased or blocked from his Drudge Report potent, negative news about Obama.

But Ziegler's living proof is now dead: Andrew Breitbart, a former Drudge Report employee, who created his own conservative media empire after Obama's election and died March 1 in Los Angeles at the age of 43.

"It became very clear to me during the 2008 primary season that, for whatever reason, the Drudge Report was completely in the tank for the Obama campaign," writes Ziegler, who calls  the president a "socialist/radical."

That clarity prompted Ziegler to ask Breitbart if his suspicions were true.

He continues, "When I addressed this concern with Breitbart, he readily agreed and admitted great frustration at what was happening. He even revealed that on several occasions he had tried to post prominent 'negative' stories about Obama on the site but had seen Drudge take the highly unusual step of not only moving them down the page but also taking them off the site completely."

With Breitbart's death, Ziegler says he's now "probably the only living person who has full knowledge" of Drudge quietly aiding the future president by ignoring or downplaying scandals involving Rev. Jeremiah Wright's anti-American sermons and Michelle Obama's anti-American sentiments.

Drudge also aided Obama with positive spin, according to Ziegler.

"When Obama ended up losing a very tight race in Indiana . . . Drudge declared the future president to be "The Nominee" just hours later," he writes. "The mainstream media quickly followed suit and the rest is history."

Ziegler and Breitbart--who shared a firm belief in a liberal media conspiracy--apparently disagreed on what motivated Drudge to betray conservatives.

"Breitbart never really knew why Drudge took this obvious pro-Obama position," he writes. "He theorized that perhaps Drudge had become too 'Europeanized,' but I personally concluded that Drudge simply knew that having Obama around would be fantastic for business."

Ziegler--who created Media Malpractice: How Obama Got Elected and Palin Was Targeted, a documentary about the 2008 election--tells me that he's still living in LA and says this about the impact of his news: "It's too early to tell about reaction."

"There is just a lot of irrational fear of Drudge," he said.

Go HERE to read Ziegler's column.

Ziegler left his prominent KFI perch in bitter controversy. He savaged his former colleagues John and Ken as prolific liars. The station's leading talk show duo mocked him as a high-strung, egotistical nut--and worse.

My favorite part of the Ziegler column is somewhat tangential; the fact that Breitbart said that during the ten years up to that point he had worked on The Drudge Report, he had only spoken to Matt Drudge twice. I'm sure that Breitbart-Drudge emailed, IM-ed, etc., but still, that's kind of wild to think a media empire like that could be built w/out any substantial face-to-face.

well Obama is the best thing the gop has goingsocialist?more like bush lite

from naked capitalism

But one of basic precepts of marketing is not to misrepresent the attributes of your product in a fundamental way. And one of the hallmarks of Obama is that he is a lightweight physically and politically. He walks from fights (or more accurately, uses complicated rationalizations for refusing to fight as cover for selling out ordinary people). He gets pissy when criticized (contrast that with FDR’s “I welcome their hatred”). His “accomplishments” are overly complex, poorly rendered Potemkin versions of real initiatives. And the Teleprompter head bob is getting tired. The anti-gravitas of Obama comes from his insistence on putting cerebral versions of happy faces on a society that is rotting from within. You can’t expect good long term outcomes from a culture whose elites are as openly corrupt as ours are.

Try this one on for size.  Michael Schroeder sucks Drudge's cock in between his ball busting sessions with his bitch whore wife Susan KANG Schroeder.  Case in point...no Carona coverage on Drudge during that entire debacle.

This whole thing is the definition of a "non-story".  Anyone who followed the Drudge Report during the 2008 Primary knew that Drudge was very obviously backing Obama against Clinton by the stories he chose.  It's simply because Drudge HATES THE CLINTONS!  Does anyone remember that 30 million dollar lawsuit from Sidney Blumethal against Drudge?

Once the primary was over Drudge turned against Obama was was for McCain.  Zigler takes these facts and makes a leap that fits his agenda of saying that the conservative media wants Obama to stay in office because it's "good for business".  The guy is a paranoid wacko.

Help me out here, how would helping Obama defeat McCain hurt the Clintons?

Obama didn't benefit McCain.  Zigler's charge is that Drudge was "in the tank" for Obama during the primary, no the general election.  During the general election Drudge (of course) turned against Obama.

I think the theory is that Matt Drudge really dislikes the clintons so he withheld stories on Obama in an attempt to help him gain an edge over Hillary.  I guess the rationale was that there was no way that a first term Senator / community Organizer could Beat McCain.

If you watched the recent PBS special on Bill Clinton you will see that while Matt Drudge broke the Lewinsky story it was gift wrapped and handed to him by Newsweek.  Since the editors at Newsweek didnt want to be the "Bad Guys".  They handed it off to a conservative blogger which in turn spawned the famous Hillary quote "It's all part of a vast right wing conspiracy" when in fact it was a publication that is knowingly liberal not wanting to be the one to get their hands dirty.

Also Matt was raised by Democrats his father a social worker and his Mother was a Staff Attorney for Teddy Kennedy.  Maybe he had an inside view of the durrrrrty left!

Lots of the children of my generation are much more conservative than we were/are, not particulalrly surprising if Drudge was more conservative than his parents. Conceivably you're also an example, don't know since your parents' politics are none of my business.

"Ziegler left his prominent KFI perch in bitter controversy. He attacked his former colleagues John and Ken as prolific liars. The station's leading duo mocked him as a high-strung, egotistical nut."Didnt the same thing happen to Larry Elder on KABC after he chastised Al Rantell and Doug McIntyre for voting for Obama?  Now Larry is back and McIntyre was demoted to the overnight slot again. Interesting, maybe Jon and Ken can get the same demotion.

um, maybe it's becuase Drudge tries to print partisan stories that might actually be true, while Breitbart confined himself to partisan hackjobs that were sometimes true by pure chance?

Never forget: Reality is biased... against nutjobs.
