Angels Still Referring to Albert Pujols as "El Hombre" on LA County Billboards

So remember the memo that new Anaheim Angels slugger Albert Pujols sent the team about them a couple of weeks ago referring to him as "El Hombre" (The Man), even though he's been against it ever since he was playing for the St. Louis Cardinals?

The Angels didn't get it.

Spotted yesterday on the east side of the 5 Freeway, around the area of Commerce and Montebello was the following billboard:

Taken a couple of weeks ago, but still serves the purpose...

Are the Halos purposely trying to turn the Pujols marriage into another Moo Vaughn affair?

The main problem for me with this is that it is just so corny and facile. If that was the best that Moreno's public relations staff can come up with they should be fired. Either be creative or go sell shoes!

Pujols doesn't like it because Stan Musial had a pretty famous nickname in St. Louis long before Albert came around - 'The Man,' translation: El Hombre in Spanish.

He's continuing to honor Musial. That said, for $240 million, the Halos should be able to do anything they please within reason.

I'll give you it is pretty decent of Pujols to not want to interfere with the memory of Musial, and it isn't something I knew -- I don't give a shit about beisbol.

Still, how does that invalidate my point. Moreno (and the Cardinals before him) are trying to appeal to Mexicans.
