Tim Conway Jr., KFI-AM 640 Host, Claims Child-Abusing Teachers Would Never Be Allowed In OC--Only In Mexican-Dominated LA

tim_conway_jr.jpg
Conway, Jr.: Like a skinnier Tom Arnold, except less funny
I remember when Tim Conway Jr. was cool: back when he was on KLSX-FM 97.1, first with Doug Steckler, then Brian Whitman. But ever since he's been on KFI-AM 640, Timmy's been a tool (not to be confused with Timmy O'Toole) who tries to strike a happy medium between Borscht Belt cynic Handel and Know Nothing JohnKen but ends up a sad imitator of nothing (except, of course, for the genius "What the Hell did Jesse Jackson Say?").

Really: his show is unlistenable. But that's the only thing I can listen to when I get out of the office, because my transistor radio can only pick up KFI, in some sick-as-fuck God joke. But He works in mysterious ways, and that's how I was able to listen to Conway Jr. make an ass out of himself in trying to advocate for child-abuse victims.

The quote happened on Tuesday while Conway Jr. was discussing the case of LA-area elementary school teacher Mark Berndt, who'd tie up his students, feed them semen, and take pictures. The radio host was rightfully disgusted--and then his show took a turn for the coded racism that characterizes too much of KFI's coverage.

Conway Jr. was trying to be sympathetic, saying that school districts tend to dump predator teachers in lower-income neighborhoods, which is somewhat true. But he didn't stop there--Conway Jr. then said that Berndt's victims probably didn't speak up because they couldn't speak good English or their parents were illegals. His proof? School demographics that show the elementary school where Berndt taught is super-majority Mexican. Um, okay...

And then Timmy just went pendejo. Playing KABC-TV Channel 7 audio of a neighbor who saw the teacher walking with a young girl at the beach, Conway Jr. claimed, "This happens in Orange County, 15 people...call the cops when they see this in Orange County," while then stating such behavior is tolerated in LA.

His insinuation: Orange County is filled with virtuous Americans (read: gabachos) who won't tolerate pedophiles; LA is filled with poor minorities who do.

Um, yeah, because all those Michael Harris victims at Santa Margarita High were poor Mexicans. Or because all those people who saw assistant boys' basketball coach Jeff Andrade get in a fight with his victim in a Mater Dei parking lot so long ago immediately called the cops.

I could go on with the horror story that is OC not only tolerating pedophiles but defending their honor, but I'll end with Timmy's own fuck-up: even as he was going on and on about how such crimes could only happen in LA, he then openly fantasized about gang members killing Berndt. But I thought LA was apathetic toward pedophiles...so which is it, Timmy?

Was Rory Emerald taking the trash out when he saw George Noory and Tim Conway Jr. dumpster diving?

Rory Emerald is a famous American singer, actor, hoodwinker, and performance artist who's modus operandi is placing fake classified ads claiming to have found bizarre items. Some of the things he's claimed to have found include "Laura Bush's gold cigarette case and lighter, a two-headed kitten, Eva Peron's inauguration gown and diamond scepter, Leonardo da Vinci's original paint brushes and palette, an ice sculpture of SpongeBob SquarePants and a life-size wax figure of Herman Munster." I posted about him two weeks ago when he claimed to have found H.G. Wells' time machine, but he's back in the news, in two different cities.

He made headlines in the Monterey County Herald for an ad claiming to have found Doris Day's pearl necklace and the pillows from the movie Pillow Talk. Simultaneously, there's an article about him in the Yuma Sun, describing how he placed an ad claiming to have found an original Babe Ruth uniform on Madison Avenue.

Emerald says that he never tries to make any money from his fake ads. For him, they're purely a form of artistic expression.

I suspect we'll be hearing more of Emerald. He seems to have a talent for getting himself in the news.

In general, TCjr's show is pretty good, although it seems to be "off" since the first of the year, almost like he's doing less prep and effort. A lot of repitition of Kardashian stuff and bad timing. In the case you cite, when he said that, I was surprised he used Orange County as a comparative example, and not Burbank, like he usually does. I always thought OC was full of pervs. He definately has the "FM-talk" subtle humor that may not come across well on a transistor radio. But on an internet-connected surround-sound, when he's "on", it can be great!

It makes perfect sense. If Latinos in LA are poor and underrepresented, then of course they will have less power to advocate for better teachers.

This is Conway's" shtick", Shock jock radio mentality  is alive on KKKFI . He  bags on everything that is government run ,anti- union (although he's a  UNION member of SAG/AFTRA -hypocrite). I personally think he does not like public unions because they do better for their workers than does his "crappy" union (his words)  He works for Clear Channel/ Fox News ,and is "faithful" only  to his paycheck .Still talks about George Bush like he still president. Recently, he commented on Clint Eastwood's commercial during the Superbowl. I thought it was a pretty good spot, inspiring and uplifting in a time where America can sure one. Conway Jr. not only hammered Clint, but then shot down how Chrysler has come back from near bankruptcy to become one the the American auto industry success stories. He went on further to say American cars are not worth buying. What a douche!! Funny, because he advertises for a car dealership in Riverside Ca. (oops!) He talks about salaries of teachers , but won't disclose what he earns- hypocrite. Put's down Catholics, but claims to be one.His show, like alot of personalities on KKKFI is to  negatively comment on the news of the day and offer no positive positions. they pick the train wreck or the car crash or the suicide and and exploit the story for the sake of ratings. The sad thing about Tim Conway Jr. he is NOT his father. He  see's himself as someone who is morally superior to those who he bashes daily.I believe he wishes he was a famous as the celebrities he rips on. Say's he's a great father but's takes his kid gambling with him.He constantly repeats numerious catch phrases through his broadcasts. His comedy is, as he would say "low end" Having lived in his father's shadow (name sake) is the ONLY way he has survived  in entertainment. And he would probably agree.   Nothing new here, sadly.

I thought i was the only one who found Tim Conray's show unlistenable but stuck with it as the only talk radio in that timeslot. Thank you for expressing so eloquently what i have been feeling.

You're way over sensitive lol. And he's right about that incident not happening in OC. Has nothing to do with what race you are.

".. my transistor radio can only pick up KFI, in some sick-as-fuck G*d joke."

It's not a "G*d joke" Gustavo - it is KFI's 50,000 watt blowtorch output signal.

A rare moment of agreement with Gustavo, at moments like this, particularly when it's a white perp and 'minority' victims of some pretty heinous, probably best not to be blaming the later.

He could have definitely articulated his point better... his insinuation is a bit far fetched.  Wasn't there a teacher in SJC last week that was picked up for stat rape?  A softball coach was arraigned last week out in Rancho Cucamonga for "sex acts" with 15 girls on his softball teams.  He got away with it 15... Well 14 times! And Rancho is middle class suburbia! Pervs are everywhere and Conway didnt do his homework.

Citing an instance of a KFI host saying something grossly dumb about non-white people while showing pure ignorance about the region they supposedly cover is like shooting fish in a barrel with a howitzer. You could do this all day.

that rebuttal doesnt even make sense?  how does any of what i said make me sound like an apologist? i only commented on how you turned an LA-OC comparison into a White-Mexican comparison.funny how you choose the most ridiculous rebuttals when you dont have a legitimate one.  i bet youre gonna find a way to play the nazi card next.

It's called respect Gustavo - I didn't expect you to understand.
