A Bridge Over Troubled Warren: Rick Says Register Article on Chumminess With Muslims Filled With 'Multiple Errors'

An Orange County Register article chronicling Rev. Rick Warren's efforts to broker a peace between evangelical Christians and Muslims attracted the typical knee-jerk rebukes from those saints who see Old Scratch behind any talk of loving their enemies and other liberal shit Jesus preached.

But Warren himself also responded to the article, which says he "has embarked on an effort to heal divisions between evangelical Christians and Muslims by partnering with Southern California mosques and proposing a set of theological principles that includes acknowledging that Christians and Muslims worship the same God."

The gals over at Solasisters.blogspot.com posted an article about the Register piece, including a screenshot of Warren's comment on the story:

They also posted writer Jim Hinch's response:

We contacted Saddleback Church in Lake Forest to find out what the errors were, besides, you know, trying to follow a teaching of Jesus in Orange County. We promise to post any response from the megachurch.

I recommend that Saddleback share a clear vision of their outreach to Muslims and the goals of the King's Way program.   If its peacemaking, let it be peacemaking.  If it something else, then the confusion must be addressed.  The topic of Christian leaders relating to Muslims can be divisive.  Once Christians and Muslims understand the purpose of peacemaking (which should not be confused with evangelism) healing can occur.  However, when the lines are blurred, people can feel threatened.

Blessed are the peacemakers...

Doesn't the bible say something about "Be aware when people are shouting things like 'peace, peace' because then you will know the end is near." There is no such thing as peace between a Muslim and a Christian. Of course, from the Christian perspective we can love them (and should love them), but as far as peace is concerned on their end, they will never believe that--their bible doesn't teach them to love their neighbor! Ours does. In fact, it teaches them just the opposite. So there really is no way to make them do something their faith firmly prohibits and even warns against. The foundation of their faith is to kill all Christians and anyone who goes against Allah. They try to promote their religion as peaceful, but are we really that ignorant when it is staring us right in the face? Wake up people! They need Jesus!

Amazing.  Xians can't do anything good without stepping on their own dicks in the process.

I agree. God forbid people of differing faiths should find some common ground and get along. The horror!
