Rex Hudler and Steve Physioc, Former Angels TV Broadcasters, are Kansas City-Bound

We here at the Weekly--well, me--regularly harped about the old Anaheim Angels of Los Angeles TV broadcasting team. Play-by-play man Steve Physioc was too vanilla even for Orange County, and color man Rex Hudler had a grating voice and that damn baseball he sniffed and carried like a pacifier. Naturally, I applauded when both got the boot in November 2009 after 11 seasons together. But it wasn't like I hoped they'd never find work again, so let me be the first to congratulate "Hudman" and "The Phys" for their new TV gig in Kansas City.

They are scheduled to work about 50 games for the Royals this upcoming season. Amazingly, Kansas City was not among the many teams Hudler played for during his 13 seasons as a gritty utility man in the Bigs. But returning to the Midwest is a coming home for Physioc, a Kansas State University graduate.

Here's hoping they make magic in the broadcasting booth. In my opinion, Physioc just needs to play it looser--he can display a cutting wit--and fuck if Hudler didn't bring it whenever he used to guest/guest host on Jim Rome's old Mighty 690 sports talk show. Bonus points for both being class acts: I can recall both separately saying positive things about Halos they covered even after they were placed by Jose Mota and Mark Gubicza.

As opposed to WHAT! The Wonderdog was AWESOME!!!! I like Gubi too but holy crap if Jose Mota doesnt look like a GD El Ciervo in headlights!

Agree to disagree Coker..  Hud should still be the TV voice of the Angels.

Like I said, loved his personality on Romey, hated it in the Angels booth.

I read quite extensively re Hudlers marijuana arrest. I don't recall him ever claiming it was "medicine."Do you have a link to an article where he claims it was in fact medicine?
