Newport Beach Holds Sobriety Stop Tonight

The operation runs from 8 tonight through 3 a.m. Saturday.
Police say the enforcement area was chosen because it is near bars and previous DUI-related incidents.
It's basically just over the bridge and near an entrance into Lido Village. That area includes several restaurants that serve spirits and stay open late. People leaving even more bars farther down the Peninsula also pass through that intersection while heading inland.
