Richard Nixon's 99th Birthday Draws Friends, Family and Hugh Hewitt

If Richard Nixon had not gone to that great pen of paranoia in the sky already, he would be at his library and birthplace in Yorba Linda more than just in spirit today to celebrate his 99th birthday.

Hugh Hewitt, who originally came out west to help get the presidential library off the ground, will be there to broadcast live from the East Room, where his radio show guests will include Nixon family, friends, close aides and admirers.

Participating Dicketeers follow after the jump . . .

But first, the annual laying of a wreath at Nixon's gravesite begins at 11:30 a.m. The private foundation that holds ceremonies in the East Room, runs the gift shop and is separate from the public National Archives that runs the presidential library and museum also kicks off a commemoration of the centennial year of Pat Nixon.

Scheduled to join Hewitt on the grounds or over the phone starting at 3 p.m. are: Julie and David Eisenhower; Ben Stein; Nixon's surviving brother Ed Nixon; Marine aide to the president, Colonel Jack Brennan; Fox News contributor Monica Crowley; Nixon director of presidential travel and Nixon Foundation Chairman Ron Walker; former California Governor Pete Wilson; Nixon speechwriter and three-time presidential candidate Pat Buchanan; former Nixon Assistant Chief-of-Staff Larry Higby; and historian Richard Norton Smith.

There is free admission to the library all day, but you have to RSVP here to sit in on the live broadcast.
