Occupy to Hold Vigil in Honor of Martin Luther King Jr.
Members of Occupy Orange County, Americans Organized for Change and MoveOn will hold a candlelight vigil in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday.
In the wake of Irvine's nearly three-month occupation, organizer D'Marie Mulattieri has said the movement is forgoing tents in favor of marches and rallies a la the civil rights movement.
A press release on Occupy Orange County's Facebook page encourages people to come down to the intersection of Alton Parkway and Harvard Avenue tonight at 7 p.m. with signs focused on a positive message. Paraphrasing the late, great civil rights leader, the page states, "We are the change we want to see in the world. Dr. King stressed service to community so we encourage everyone to find a way of giving back to your community even in a small way."
