Itzcoatl Ocampo Aggressively Hunted Last Victim, According to Court Filing
The allegation supports statements by District Attorney Tony Rackauckas, who last week claimed that Ocampo was obsessed with killing homeless individuals and the subsequent media coverage.
Ocampo, 23 and a former U.S. Marine who served in the Iraq War, is locked in the Orange County Jail and facing four murder charges.
The OC Register's Larry Welborn is reporting that Ocampo admitted to Anaheim homicide detective Daron Wyatt that he'd also spent "several hours" on Jan. 13 searching for 64-year-old John Barry, after the homeless Vietnam War veteran gave an interview to the Los Angeles Times about his fear of being murdered.
Ocampo's admission was used in a search warrant to seek surveillance footage from cameras at an Embassy Suites hotel near the last murder scene.
Rackauckas says the defendant used a Rambo-style hunting knife to stab his four victims more than 200 times.
