• A Mexican-American,  Just go back to Mexico and fix your own damn country fool. They are a bunch of cockroaches that come here like leeches to get everything for free. We The People of America are tired of supporting your asses and all your f-ing anchor babies!!! We don't care if they come here, just do it legal, learn the language of this country, in case you don't know, thats English!!!! Become an American Citizen, instead of bringing Mexico with you!!! Out government give millions to Mexico to help out, (our tax dollars)!!! People in Mexico are to stupid to fix their own country so they want to come here and turn this country into a third world nation, NO THANKS Pendejo!!! We are being invaded from the south and We The people are not going to keep taking it sitting down, if our government don't get our illegal immigration under control soon, We The People will start taking care of the problem!!! If you think not, just wait an see, the time is coming that We U.S. Citizens are going to take a very strong stand against this problem!!! We here that are citizens are Americans first, and our nationality next...Like American Mexican, American black, WE are Americans and anyone can become one if they want to do it LEGAL!!!

We all feel hurt and pain. We also want to be happy and live safe from harm!  Mexican people cant walk the streets to go to the market and buy food for their children without worring about getting killed by the Carteles that are now in control of the nation .Have some heart America!!! Mexicans are human beings as Iraqis, Jews, Chinese, Columbian..etc...... in regards to Mexican gangs in USA....get rid of the KKK before judging anyone.  Mexico now is in survival mode for our young people and children, for our seniors as well as our homemakers....Rather than acting like ignorant and immature americans calling races unethical names GET OUT THERE AND HELP THE USA BECOME A BETTER COUNTRY!! • Like I wrote below I think its a product of the time... Are there people today that agree with the cartoon? Sure.  Just like there are people who agree with the content of The Boondocks, which from time to time gets pulled from the Sunday comics and is put into the editorial section of the paper.   I don't think you will see that cartoon published today though.

• I think Gustavo is deeply conflicted.  If we go by SWPL criteria, he is whiter than I am. He drinks fancy bourbon, wears guayaberas and poindexter gafas just like every other 'Anglo' hipster urbanite, and is no doubt embarrassed that about 1/4 of 'Latinas' can't seem to make it thru high school without become embarazada. The way he resolve this conflict is by lashing out against mild slights of Mexicans from nearly a century ago -- but you know he laughing on the inside at the caricature of his more pocho co-ethnics. For him it is a two-fer , both an opportunity for righteous rage against long dead, 'reprehensible', American cartoonist and a hilarious put down of less fortunate paisanos.

• I see that as a product of the time... Take for example the movie Gone With the Wind.  Probably revered as one of the greatest movies of all time... Afi has it as #6.  Its quite possibly the most racist thing I have ever seen!  But its funny to think, that was ok at the time!
