Dana Rohrabacher Blames "Rude" Female for His Gaffes on Bill Maher's HBO show

Uncle Slammed: Drunk with power
Any reasonable person who saw Dana Rohrabacher's Jan. 27 performance on HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher appreciated that the right-wing Orange County Republican congressman set a new low for political discourse.

Hilariously acting as if he's a seasoned, elder statesman, Rohrabacher--the self-described "surfin' congressman' who can't surf and who is, I grant, an expert in Tequila consumption--tried to rationalize Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer's disrespectful finger wagging at President Barack Obama.

Rohrabacher--who actually blames the Sept. 11, 2001, al-Qaeda terrorist attacks on Bill Clinton's 1995 White House intern blow job--claimed that Republicans are disrespectful of the current president because they know Obama is secretly--dastardly?--determined to "gut" the U.S military.

In the Costa Mesa Republican's view, Obama's method of destroying the nation's national defense is the epitome of counter-intuitive thought: showering the Pentagon and defense contractors with at least $6 trillion more in taxpayer funds during the next decade.

(Dear President Obama: please destroy me with a similar cash infusion.)

It was a lousy, inadvertently comical HBO performance by Rohrabacher, who evaded Vietnam War military duty and made himself, once again, the laughing stock of American politics.

But never one to sink into the gutter and skip a chance to go lower, the 12-term congressman today responded to national criticism of his performance with Maher by blaming the presence of a female co-panelist: Kennedy, the energetic Libertarian from Reason TV.

"Kennedy's aggressive and rude interruptions threw me off . . . ," Rohrabacher--who has been involved in national politics for four decades--wrote in a Twitter message today.

I don't know which is worse: cowardly skipping combat duty or blaming a woman for your own pathetic, national TV performance.

Dana, can you tell us what you were thinking?

Of course, we'll understand if you are only able to add an obnoxious comment by using a fake name at this website.

Go HERE to see my original report on Rohrabacher's appearance on HBO with Bill Maher.

That's interesting, having watched the show, because for the most part Kennedy seemed to the only person in the room on that episode even inclined to meet him halfway. She's a libertarian, not a liberal, and was to agree with him on things like the bailouts, and she was pretty even-handed on the Jan Brewer thing. Martin Bashir was shredding him and made him look like a fool on the defense-spending issue. Guy went on trying to repeat talking points and got shredded because he didn't have his facts straight. If you're conservative and you're going on that show, you better be smart and do your homework. It was a pitiful performance and he came off as unaware of things.

Mr. Rohrabacher I am a Costa Mesa resident and I recently called your orange county office and spoke to a young lady who was cordial.  The reason for my call was an inquiry regarding your participation with Grover Norquist and his unconstitutional tax pledge. I asked the young lady if you had signed it.  She answered "not to my knowledge." She assured me that you do not sign pledges. Once I hung up the phone I went to American's for Tax Reforms web page to check on her assertion and there was your name as a signer to his pledge.  Can you please address why you have pledged your loyalty to Grover Norquist over your sworn oath to represent the people in your district? I have spoken to all my friends and neighbors in your district.  And like me, I was never asked what I think about this pledge and if you should sign it on my behalf.  We are your bosses not the lobbyists for Big Money. Please inform your staff that your ARE a signer to the Norquist's pledge.  So they can give correct information to your constituents. Better yet, remove your name from the pledge and apologize to us. Tim Rose

You foolish man, I am not Dana.  I am flattered to be thought to be him.  And a real urinealist calling me "sock puppet".  Is that the best you can doo-doo;  Dana certainly has much more important stuff to do than this, such as go surfing.  Dana surfs better than you do.

danasurfsbetterthanyou
danasurfsbetterthanyou

Gustavo, its not funny your guys perfunctory cliche attacks on the man.  I want substance and character, something I see lacking in both you and Moxley.  Still I see substance and character in Rohrabacher, one who is never afraid to speak his mind, and to see Moxley so fixated on this guy only demonstrates he lacks direction and moral certitude.  I appreciate what Dana brings to the House, and am thankful he is there.

danasurfsbetterthanyou

What's the "R" stand for anyways.  Is that what you hide behind.  I am not Dana, nor am I related to him.  Still your attacks on the guy are weak, totally lacking substance other than, its clear to see you hate him.  I admire him, he's a patriot, trying to do what he believe is best for the country, and that's why I say something.  I don't need to tell you who I am because that's really not important, nor relevant, only what matters are the facts.  That Bill Mayer show was more like a lynching, than a discussion, and I would be happy myself, if Obama was trying to harder to "gut" military spending; we have over 900 bases around the world, and a sagging economy on the home front; if we spent those funds here perhaps our lives would be more prosperous.  Plane loads of cash disappeared during those wars, along with the lives of some of our best.  What's the real story on Gadafi anyways, Qatari's got him, and an African descended President lauding, applauding and funding the operation, without Congressional approval.  I for one would like to see less wars.

Your story of Dana as a draft dodger doesn't fly either, but Nixon's planes did and bombed the hell out of Laos and Cambodia.  You act as if the Vietnam experience was a good thing.  I would think that a liberal like you would applaud anyone who stood up to what was going on over there, but then again it was the liberal Johnson's war.  Dana in the highlands of Vietnam, helping the Montagnards during the war took more courage, and bravado than your capable of.  And he still surfs better than you.

If I was Dana, I'd admit it, but I am not, and to think that just shows how foolish you are.  Dana could never come down to your level, the bottom-feeder you are.  I do admire Dana though, he has the intellectual capacity to be philosophically consistent, something I admire in politicians- even when I disagree with them!

He still surfs better than you, and he is in his 60's...

What a moronic thing to think I am Dana, but it makes perfect sense when I consider the source.

The R must stand for retaad because that is what you are.  Governor Brewer can wave her finger at Obama if she wants to, but if you look at the video what your proposing is completely out of context which you are most of the time, she wasn't "disrespecting" the president; you should consider how completely disrespectful you are of Rohrabacher; you have no right, nor grounds to pronounce judgement just because they differ politically.

Hey, how did you end up on Gustavo's sex pole?  I heard you couldn't take it at first, until he convinced you, that it would be fun.  The OC Weekly really sets the bar high.  Promoting drug use and prostitution, bagging on religion, and presenting lies about local politicians is all your rags seem to do.

Mucksley, you bottom-feeder, you don't even surf, at least Rohrabacher can.  Funny, you don't have your head in the dirt but up somewhere else...

Mr. Rohrabacher likes to hold the floor and displayed little regard for the other panel members on Realtime with Bill Maher.  He has no one else to blame for his problems with the panel because he allowed no one else to speak.  He comes off as a loud-mouth idiot with little knowledge of any subject presented.

Madley

Kennedy was rude but Rohrabacher started out with extreme right wing talking points on every issue then after a couple of minutes of conservation he had to walk back every claim he made.

Would have liked to hear Martin Bashir and Bill Maher get in more words but Kennedy and the Congressman wouldn't shut up.

Hope he never has Kennedy back.

Rohrbacher's diatribe against latino children lowering the grades of his gerrymandered consituency's white supporters schoolkids would be a joke if there weren't innocent children involved. It's hard to figure if he is an idiot or a lunatic. Everybody on that panel was kicking his ass - and he knew his only chance was to keep his lips moving. Unfortunately for him his blathering was caught on tape. This guy needs to get tossed out and made to earn a living instead of staying on the public dole.

Rohrbacher knows as well as anyone that without immigrant labor to take jobs for low pay, with inadequate safety programs and no benefits his supporters wouldn't have the cash to keep him in office. What do you want them to do Dana, just leave the kids behind? What a great spokesperson for family values!!

you no what the really scary part is? The people that live in Costa Mesa, CA will continue to re-elect this fucking moron to the Senate. I should not be blaming it on just the people that live in Costa Mesa but the whole fucking country. Election year after election year the majority in this  country continue to put this assholes back in office. The one time they decided to put some new blood into office they voted a bunch of motherfuckers from the Tea Party into office who are in all reality just a bunch of Libertarians with Libertarian views on how to fuck the middle class out of everything including there jobs.  one of the things that baffles me is why would a Libertarian attack a Republican considering how close the two are when it comes to the issues.

It should be pointed out that Kennedy could make the same reasoning and accuse Rohrabacher of the very same thing.  Mainly because both were just as reproachful as the other - there was even a point, towards the end of the main debate section, when Kennedy was looking directly towards Rohrabacher and *nodding* in agreement.

I wouldn't have minded so much, if they both could have delivered solutions, listened to the opposition and form a response based upon what's just been said (as Buddy Roemer did in the previous episode) and then move on to a new subject.  As opposed to staying on a topic that the facts clearly refute, only to try and reinforce their failed viewpoints by repeating them.  That kind of marketing tactic doesn't go down very well with those who are very much aware of that tactic and are resistant to it.

And as regards all this, here's a new rule: When someone says something to you along the lines of "that's a valid point...BUT...", what they're *really* saying is "your point is actually rubbish and here's why".  Such as when Martin Bashir brought up the point about Mitt Romney giving to the Mormon churches as a "charitable" donation to avoid being taxed and then that money being used to further political aims, causes and aspirations.  Y'know, as opposed to helping the needy, the poor and the downtrodden to get off their knees. Or as Rick Santorum might put it: "an act of kindness to one's fellow man"...*ahem* ;)

And another new rule: When you ask someone the question "who do you support for the upcoming election?", the answer of "I don't endorse anyone" is enough and should be accepted with good grace.  The next question to be asked should be "why would you not endorse anyone?" and not the first question over again.  Nor is it "Give me a name!".  Because that's not genuine curiosity, in the terms of finding out what that person thinks...it's just an excuse to troll on whatever person is lukewarmly "endorsed".  And troll *HARD*.  As evidenced when Mark Foley dodged Kennedy's attempt to troll him, as she was just not satisfied with the answer (paraphrased) "I'd endorse Romney if he was just honest about his moderate and centrist attitude and policies back in Massachusetts".

Although, if former representative Mark Foley is ever shown this post, here's some advice for next time such a situation occurs: say that you fully endorse your sock puppet "Mr Tiddles",so that we know that Mr Tiddles is a puppet from the get-go and even better, Mr Tiddles knows what it is to be at the bottom of the pile, to be one amongst the great unwashed and can stand as an independent - as he can be placed on either the left or the right on many things.  But best of all, and as a boon to the Tea Party, Mr Tiddles will no doubt end up being holier...than thou will *ever be*! XD

Okay, that's this post done, trust it made some of you "lol" in a good way and with that, I'll see you all in the replies bit below! *cue theme music* :D

I lived in Rohrabacher's district for ten years and saw him re-elected over and over again. He is an embarrassment to the Republican party. They could run a monkey in that district and win. There must be some more deserving, intelligent, well spoken person the party could back. Why do they keep on supporting this tool?

Its indicative of the liberal double standard... How many Liberal members of congress time and time again disrespected George Bush?  Regardless of how you felt about Dubya Democrats and the main stream media relentlessly attacked his credibility and were perpetually disrespectful to him personally and his office.

Jan Brewer has one terse moment and they treat it like its the worse thing that could ever happen.

Obama lied in his campaign add about his mom --- gets a pass.

Ron Suskind who wrote a book on Obama wrote. "Allegations of a hostile workplace for women also surface in the book, with former communications director Anita Dunn saying, “Looking back, this place would be in court for a hostile workplace ... Because it actually fits all of the classic legal requirements for a genuinely hostile workplace for women.”

Anita Dunn denied she said this until it was revealed that her interview was recorded and she was directly quoted. Oooops

Had this been a book about the  Bush staff the Author would have been on the today show everyday for a week and Pelosi would be screaming for an investigation.

In contrast to many, I was glad to hear Rohrbacher's views. He espoused the Republican line nearly perfectly, and it is all about stereotypes of what they imagine liberals to be. I have several acquaintances who do the same thing. They cannot hear the actual words of a liberal because they already know what a liberal is supposed to think. If the liberal strays from the stereotype, Rohrbacher and his ilk don't hear the real words.

This is "the bubble" Maher said Rohrbacher was in.

This is also the source of the "mythic Obama" Maher said the Republicans were campaigning against.

And I agree with the others, Kennedy was terrible. She had her own agenda and could not read the atmosphere well enough to know when the two parties are different and when they're the same. She was just clueless regardless of how rational her ideas might be otherwise.

BM also can't seem to make up his mind on most of the crap that spews out of his mouth take for instance Michael Moore's movie sicko for the most part Mr. Moore was saying that the US should follow what the rest of the civilized world is doing and get the insurance companies out of the healthcare business and let the Government take it over using tax dollars. During that time Billy Boy was on with his weekly Real Time show agreeing with Mr. Moore but during that time Bush was still President now that Bushy Boy is no longer President, Billy Boy has changed his tune and now agrees with the Republican's the Government needs to stay out of the health care business Billy Boy is a fucking joke and you really can't take anything he say's seriously.  OH and I agree with you and I also thin the Insurance Companies need to be removed from the Healthcare system here in the US let them run the Healthcare system in Iraq.

His fatal error regarding Latino children lowering test scores was in offering it as "proof" that President Obama has opened the border, and it has been a free for all illegal invasion contrary to the Bill Maher submitted fact that there has been no net immigration over the last year.

But Kennedy, as gorgeous as she was, was in fact rude, badgering, and uncouth.  If she had a legitimate point, it was lost in her talkover of Dana's turn.  I think Bill will be reluctant to have her back if she did not apologize for treating his rare conservative guest so poorly.

'Latino' children do have lower test scores than Asians and whites. Just a fact. So the more 'Latino' children you have proportionally, the lower your average test scores will be.
