Ahmad Siddiqi, Marine Afghanistan Interpreter Accused of Killing DoD Interpreter Soraya Faroqi and Her Unborn Child, to be Arraigned

An Orange County District Attorney's office statement on Wednesday's scheduled arraignment of Ahmad Siddiqi fills in some holes about the murder of Soraya Faroqi and her unborn child.

Currently, the Marine who spent several months in Afghanistan before the slaying faces a minimum sentence with a conviction of life in state prison without parole. The special circumstances charges filed against the 23-year-old could make him eligible for the death penalty.

Faroqi, also 23, was a civilian interpreter with the Department of Defense and had returned to Orange County from Afghanistan on Dec. 13. Siddiqi's former girlfriend was in the first trimester of her pregnancy.

Following his overseas deployment, and after spending some time at his home in Alexandri, Virginia, Siddiqi flew to Orange County for a Dec. 19 meeting with Faroqi in her friend's Westminster apartment. They were to talk about their former relationship.

The conversation obviously did not go well. Neighbors later told Westminster Police they heard loud arguing and saw Siddiqi, armed with a knife, chasing Faroqi through the apartment complex. According to prosecutors, he tackled her behind bushes in a carport, where he repeatedly stabbed her while Faroqi's friend screamed at him to stop.

Cops arrived to find Siddiqi and the dead body of a woman who had been stabbed repeatedly. He was arrested on suspicion of murdering her and, when prosecutors learned Faroqi was with child, a second murder count was added.

Siddiqi is scheduled to be arraigned in Santa Ana Wednesday morning on two felony counts of special circumstances murder with sentencing enhancements for murdering multiple victims, lying in wait, and the personal use of a deadly weapon. He is currently being held without bail.

I can tell most people here are either his friends from the military or family members. Even thought he seems like a good man through your eyes who risked his own life to protect by joining the military, that doesn't justify the fact that he can go about and kill an innocent women with a baby on the way and still be loved. This man knew what he had done, regardless of what may have happened to him mentally, and he needs to suffer for taking two lives away. So, don't make bullshit excuses about him.

There are millions of people who have PTSD after seeing war and violence, but that doesn't justify killing a defenseless civilian.  It would be dangerous to use PTSD as an excuse for what he did, that would also be a disservice to those that live with it and don't go around stabbing people to death.  As for Pinkme20, you must be related to this dude and im sure ur trying to defend him, but at the end of the day he killed a defenseless girl. All those that try to make excuses for him need to put themselves in her family's shoes...I'm sure you wouldn't be singing the same tune. NOTHING justifies what he did.

To all the people that are making excuses for this bastard! I hope that shit happeneds to one of your family members or friends. Then you wont be backing up a murderer..no matter what he went thru or saw doesn't give him a reason to kill someone! She was a sweet good hearted girl she didn't deserve this..don't ever back up a murderer cause it will happen to someone very close to you! To the girls don't ever be with someone in the army besides the bad guys they kill a lot of innocent people to!!!

I am a Marine who went on two deployments with Siddiqi. He was in my squad for both tours. This is a Marine who fought bravely and valiantly for his country. When we got back from Afghanistan A LOT of guys were messed up in the head because of the things we saw and all of our brothers who didn't make it home whole or even at all. He was one of them. He spent months trying to get help before he was eventually discharged after his contract was completed. After his discharge he continued to seek help but was forced to live a "normal life" working, going to school, etc and wasn't able to focus entirely on the healing process. What he did is inexcusable but he isn't a " jihadist" or any of the garbage I read on here. My heart breaks for this girls family but my heart breaks for him and his family too.

Semper fidelis brother.

siddiqi was a good man who snapped after witnessing his friends burn alive from rolling over an IED in afghanistan while on deployment for the USMC serving his full term getting out honorably and never receiving the help he needed to cope with what he delt with while he served. once a marine always a marine he earned his citizenship and needs mental help.he stood their because he was obviously lost his mind and snapped and murdered a woman he probably loved. RIP to her and best wishes to her family. i stand behind my brother whatever may happen to him

My son also served with Siddiqi and they used to drive home on weekends together. He needed help - everyone knew it. I don't forgive him for the horrible thing he did to this woman - but I understand that he was troubled; more than anyone on here who does not know him can ever imagine. He did chase her down. Yes. But he also stayed with her. He wasn't, and isn't, a monster. This should be a red flag to our government that we need to do something for these boys. You can't send them over and over to watch their friends die and be horribly wounded and expect them to come back and be "normal".  People on welfare get mental health treatment. Drug addicts and alcoholics get it, too. What did Siddiqi have? If you say the VA, you haven't ever tried to get services there. If Siddiqi's attorney ever reads this, please contact me. My son has been trying to find out where Siddiqi is, and we would be willing to serve as character witnesses if needed. May this girl Rest In Peace - and may Siddiqi also one day find some.

I don't know who you are but he had nothing to do with that IED. He was not close to that at all.

A good man is someone who kills someone.....?????

No offense. That  gives him no reason to take someone's life away. No matter what the fuck he saw in Afghanistan. Snapped, Wonder why he had snapped. No matter how you snap you don't kill someone. He was a shit face attacking the woman he loved or didn't love. Now he will be suffering his whole life in prision and will become more fucked up then he is. That is if he is not eligible for the death penalty.

http://blogs.ocweekly.com/nave... U.S. Marine Cpl. Ahmad Siddiqi cut a plea deal in an insurgent beating case last year that prevented him from being deported back to his native Afghanistan, where he was sure the Taliban would kill him. If he's the same Ahmad Siddiqi sitting in Orange County Jail on double-murder charges right now--his age, appearance and military background match the Marine--he possibly faces the death penalty if convicted of stabbing his 24-year-old girlfriend and her unborn child to death Monday in Westminster. The Afghan Marine was identified in 2010 as 22 and with a unit--Weapons Company, 3rd Battalion, 8th Marines--based at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. The Ahmad Siddiqi held for the murder of Soraya Faroqi and her unborn child is described by police as 23 and from Alexandria, Virginia. The man in the booking photo that opened this post resembles the Marine in the copyrighted news photo that accompanies an online Marine Corps Times story on the case of the battered insurgent. Staff Sgt. Melvin Jones, the squad leader, and Cpl. Siddiqi were standing with a village elder in the Farah province on May 9, 2009, when two motorcyclists zoomed past, frightening the old man who ducked for cover. Siddiqi, who speaks Pashto, questioned the men, saying one threatened him. Siddiqi said into his radio, "Hey, you guys need to come beat this guy up," an order he was not in position to give. Nonetheless, Cpl. Benjamin Turner and Lance Cpl. Bryan Kolton walked up 200 meters and beat the fellow up.Turner and Kolton did three months and five months in the brig respectively, were busted down a rank and faced discharge proceedings as a result of the attack, which they and Siddiqi were accused of trying to cover up. A non-U.S. citizen and one of only six Afghan Marines in the service at the time, Siddiqi negotiated a nonjudicial punishment that prevented a court martial, dishonorable discharge and possible deportation (and death). According to the Marine Corps Times, Siddiqi was set in August 2010 to plead guilty to two charges of lying and one of soliciting an offense--the equivalent of misdemeanors. He would not face discharge as he was getting out of the service the following month anyway. The Ahmad Siddiqi accused of double murder this week was described by police as either an active or reserve U.S. Marine.

I agree. And to use shell shock as an excuse for brutally stabbing someone to death sets a dangerous precedent. If he had to chase the poor woman through an apartment complex before killing her, he damn well had time to think about what he was going to do before he did it. He CHOSE violence.

Have you experienced war and death all around you? I have right alongside Siddiqi. It can break your mind. You come home and nothing makes sense anymore. This is a horrible thing that happened, but don't presume to even have a CLUE what it's like. Watching Black Hawk Down and playing Call of Duty doesn't give you any clue whatsoever.
