Rosemary Sayegh, Allegedly Tied To Long Beach Pot Murder, Released From Jail

Philip Victor Williamson, RIP
Remember the mysterious March 24 murder of Philip Victor Williamson, the 29-year-old Chico resident who was shot in an alley and allegedly robbed of up to $500,000 cash and several pounds of marijuana? For months, the police couldn't make a crack in the case, speculating only that the crime had something to do with the fact that Williamson was a courier for medical marijuana collectives and was thought to be carrying a lot of cash and cargo. Their only lead was a receipt in the victim's pocket which they tied to security footage at an LA-area store showing a man in black clothing and driving a Toyota 4Runner.

On July 29, police arrested Rosemary Sayegh, 32, in Granada Hills, and a day later, busted her husband, Marcel Mackabee, 29, up in Williamson's hometown of Chico. Both were charged with first degree murder, presumably an armed-robbery-gone-bad type case, and the cops are saying that the reciept found in Williamson's possession is Mackabee, and that he is the mystery man seen on the store's security camera.

Although Mackabee remains behind bars in Los Angeles, prosecutors yesterday suddenly dropped the charge against Sayegh, according to story yesterday in the Long Beach Press Telegram. Shiara Davila, a Los Angeles County District Attorney spokeswoman, didn't have much to say about why her office dismissed the charge against Sayegh. "The case . . . was dismissed without prejudice," she told the Press Telegram. "[I]t can be refiled at any time. But that decision won't be made for a while."

If the charges were dismissed without prejudice, that means that they can be refiled at any time in the future. That's not the kind of filing you make if you have absolutely no evidence--that's the kind of filing you make when you're counting on the other person's cooperation to strengthen the case against the offender who is assumed to have actually pulled the trigger. The prosecutor's office probably worked out a deal not to prosecute Sayegh to leverage her testimony against Mackabee, with the possibility of refiling if she chooses not to turn evidence against him.

Either way, if I were her--I wouldn't count on this just "going away" any time soon...

No one should believe just what they read in the news. I was also a victim falsely accused and found innocent. They made it look so bad in the news but at the end, they found the person who did it and it wasn’t me! Never believe all you read in the paper! My heart goes out them, innocent until proven guilty. And I just read they released them!!God bless you and your family!

It is only obvious they have the wrong people.  There is no evidence.  It is a waste of taxpayers money.  The LA County Board of Supervisors know more than the LA County DA's office or Long Beach PD.  Why else would they extend the reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Williamson's killer.  They extended it AFTER Sayegh and Mackabee were arrested. I'd say the DA and the LBPD have egg on their face and are fabricating for a conviction to save face!!!

You really have no idea what you are talking about! I feel so bad how people like you and the news is trying to make them out to look when its nothing like that at all. I have also been a victim of this type of false accusations and even when they know they have the wrong people they still dont admit it and let them go in peace. Sayegh was never offered a deal nor did she take any! They let her go because they have NOTHING! They just have them locked up hoping something will come up till they cant hold them any longer! They let Sayegh go on the first day of her Trial because they knew she would be found innocent and they would look stupid! That's why she is dismissed and the same will happen for Mackabee when his trial starts too.People should start making statements againist the way our system works not against people that are falsely accused! Its the saying "Dont ASSUME... it make an ASS out of U and ME!"

You're an educated one aren't you?  Is that all you've got?  Perhaps you know more than what you are saying....hmm...backstabbing scumbags? Long Beach PD got caught with their hand in the cookie jar and made the DA's office look foolish.  Fortunately the Board of Supervisors know that they have the wrong people otherwise they would not have extended the reward.  Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty?  You're the ignorant one...We'll see how foolish your posts will be when this all plays out.  Hopefully they will catch the ones that are responsible.
