Octomom Nadya Suleman's Fertility Doctor Michael Kamrava Wants His License Back

​Dr. Michael Kamrava, the Beverly Hills fertility doctor who had medical license suspended over his treatment of Octomom Nadya Suleman, La Habra's unemployed single mother of 14, and an older woman who was also a multiple birth mother, has gone to court in a bid to get his license back. Kamrava's attorney filed court documents indicating the suspension of his client's license was an overly harsh punishment fueled by "popular vilification" for having helped the despised Octomom conceive.

"The revocation of Dr. Kamrava's license is hardly necessary to protect the public," his attorney, Kathy J. McCormick, argues in the court filing (via UPI). "In order for it to have been designed to protect the public, there must be an assumption that he would do this again."

The patient

​Kamrava having transferred 12 embryos into Suleman, who already had six children, in July 2008 was "a perfectly legal procedure but the public (or at least the media) thought the procedure was repugnant," according to McCormick, who added a more appropriate punishment would have been to allow Kamrava to keep his license and have another physician monitor his work.

But Judith T. Alvarado, a deputy attorney general for the state of California, countered there was "clear and convincing evidence" Kamrava was "grossly negligent" in implanting a dozen embryos in Suleman.

A Dec. 15 hearing on the matter has been set in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
