As soon as Rodriguez entered the small bookstore, secular saint Rueben Martinez embraced him with a big hug and the crowd welcomed him with loud applause. Rodriguez read a few passages out of his new book, It Calls You Back: An Odyssey About Love, Addictions, Revolutions and Healing. The book is about the struggles Rodriguez had to go through in order to become a writer, father, husband, revolutionary, and healer. It Calls You Back tells the story of when Rodriguez was faced with addictions, family abuse, and a son who served a fifteen-year in prison. Always Running was inspired in part by Rodriguez's son, and he made it clear on Saturday that he wanted his story known in order to inspire those who are going through something similar.
