John Wayne Airport's Terminal C Opened Today; Flights To Mexico Expected By Next Summer

Categories: Main
Today, at 5 a.m., we went tri-terminal. That's right, John Wayne Airport's Terminal C finally opened up.

Basically, there's now more parking spaces, check-in kiosks, security lanes, gates and, of course, Starbucks. Here's a map of the airport's add-ons.

Yesterday there was an invite-only dedication service in the terminal. According to an OCMetro story, County Supervisor John Moorlach called the new terminal "seamless and consistent." (read: Good job on making this brand new terminal look exactly like the other two that were built decades ago). Bill Campbell, chairman of the county's board of supervisors, lauded the project for coming in under budget and for creating some 600 jobs.

John Wayne is about to get more international, too.

OCMetro reports that Greg Wells, Southwest Airlines' senior VP of operations, announced that as early as next June you'll be able to fly from Orange County to Mexico City and Cabo San Lucas. Olé!

For now, though, not much has really changed. Although Frontier and Southwest will eventually move to the new terminal, passengers should still check their bags in at Terminal B, according to a statement on the airport's website.
