Its amazing how someone can make a career out of bashing the catholic church? I want to say Gustavo is one trick pony but he actually know two of them.The church is never going to return the days of building Gothic cathedrals and no ones is going to demand that the crystal cathedral be torn down. Just because Gustavo says so doesn't make it so. That goes for his ask a Mexican column as well.

In my opinion, the brilliance of this purchase was not so much in the cathedral building itself as much as in the location and the campus.  It is a great property for the Diocese and the location is practically the geographic center of Orange County - perfect for hundreds of years.  There will probably be a new (replacement) cathedral built there in the next 20 to 40 years.  The Crystal Cathedral will do until then. 

As long as Brownie sends the proper payments to CathliCorp(tm) headquarters in Rome, the CEO (Pope Palatine the Magnificent) will be pleased. After all, this religion thing is a business, and as a regional business manager, Brownie MUST toe the line.  Corporate policies and procedures will be followed, or Brownie may be demoted.

It is tragic that Brownie believes all Church obligations to abuse victims have been satisfied.... nothing is further from the truth. Has anyone checked with the way Diocesan employees are treated, how they are punished if they dare report any type of child endangerment, the disgraceful health insurance benefits provided to dedicated Catholic school teachers and employees, the terrorism that Diocesan General Counsel Schinderle creates without a total disregard for respect of human dignity?

Bishop Brown and his corrupt attorneys control the thoughts and actions of every Diocesan employee who follows the law, especially as it relates to protecting children.  They will destroy, defame, blacklist and harass behind closed doors to example the cost of protecting children.

The author of this article does not understand how the Catholic Church works.  Bishop Brown is the 'Pope' of the Diocese of Orange.  First, the diocese of Oakland's new Cathedral was 190 million dollars, the archdiocese of Los Angeles new Cathedral was 250 million dollars.  57 million to purchase and another 50 million to get the new Cathedral and entire campus up to Catholic worship and current use standards is a deal when compared to the other two new Cathedrals in California.  Space dedicated to the glory or God...I can not see anyone in charge in the RC Church having a problem with that. The exterior of the Crystal Cathedral gives glory to the God of all Christians.

Pissed at him for potentially buying a building but sheltering peds is, by appearances, not a problem, OK. And people think that Catholic hierarchy might be out of touch with their flock because? Are these guys intentionally trying to sabotage the mission?
