• honestly, no one cares what tragedies you suffered on the playground as a child due to your name. i just felt that by saying that the deceased was "the incredibly named Tommy Buck Whitson IV of Long Beach" seems a little insensitive. who cares about how incredible his name was. he's dead, dude. can't you show a little sensitivity? it just makes you comes across as some smug orange county resident laughing at some dead dude who was named after his great grandfather.

• BTW, I've also corrected "watering hole" in the original post. Nice catch!

• Mock? As a Coker who has spent a life being called Cocker, Stroker, Cokehead and Pepsi, I honor the name Tommy Buck Whitson IV.

• must you mock the name of the deceased? show a wee bit of sensitivity, geez. also, hole mole is not a watering hole. keep up the good work

• Forgive Mitch, he was in between reading this article and the "Daily Nazi". 

• actually, if you note punctuation, the first paragraph was actually one sentence with a comma splice!

• the original way it was written made sense to me, however, I actually read all the words as written and not between the lines. Not just skimmed the ones that I wanted to read I have on a couple of occasions made mistakes in what I read, made stupid comments then re read and had to apologize... damn I hate doing that

• Seems to me  a simple 'outside Fern's Bar in Long Beach' would have been a lot clearer. 

• There are no 'dive bars' on 4th street in Santa Ana. No clarification needed. Duh.

• It says a "Santa Ana Man" which means he was originally located in Santa ana, not long beach. This article clearly states where the stabbing occurred. It was in the parking lot of a dive bar in long beach. Read carefully before you attack the journalist, just saying.

• Some must post critical comments about OCW writers & articles no matter if they are based in fact or not...

• How was this not clear?  In the first paragraph, we are told that the bar is located in Long Beach.  Also, why would the Long Beach Police be giving out statements about an incident that happened in Santa Ana?

• There is a Fourth Street in Santa Ana, no? I mean, I guess we could suss out that this happened in Long Beach, but isn't the job of a journalist to make things clear?
