Past 5 p.m. on Halloween, paroled sex offenders can't look for little treats.

California sex offender parolees have long been ordered to stay inside and turn off their lights on the one day kids are encouraged to talk to strangers, but this year, authorities are taking safety a step further. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation is now targeting the state's 2,000 transient offenders, who in many regions, will be required to report to official sex-offender roundup centers, or in other words, the spookiest place on earth.

AP reports that offenders have been ordered to report to these supervised centers from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday, prime trick-or-treating time. Attendance will be tracked by electronic monitors.

Parents can also download a free safety brochure for tips on how to keep kids safe on Halloween night.
