It was not the magical ride Aladdin was hoping for.

While taking his midriff-baring lady Jasmine over sideways and under, they both slipped right off the flying carpet.

This really happened on Sunday afternoon during "Disney's Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular" show at California Adventure. According to reports, the magic carpet malfunctioned, leaving the two cast members dangling from the air in their harnesses. The audience was evacuated, and the performers were brought down to safety.

Luis Mendoza of Los Angeles tweeted the ordeal, calling it the "scariest thing I have witnessed."

He tweeted: "I was furious at was seemed the lack of response to an emergency like that."

And: "The actors were pleading to the audience for help."

And: "Aladdin being my favorite Disney film, the child inside of me is traumatized for life."

I am sure that the cast members involved in this can thank the Cal-OSHA for their placing "unrealistic" safety standards on the park. Who was active in working with Cal-OSHA to develop safety standards? UNIONS.

Apparently this is why they wear safety harnesses, not to state the obvious, or anything like that.

The Aladdin Show at Disneyland California Adventure Park was evacuated due to a malfunction during the magic carpet ride scene. My three children and I were seated in Orchestra Center/Center and Aladdin's hat nearly fell directly in my daughters lap. My oldest daughter is a Theatre Major at UCR and we have been a Thespian family for decades. We are annual passport holders and are glad to hear that none of the actors were hurt during this incident an look forward to the resume of the original magic carpet ride scene. "BREAK A LEG" and see you soon. http://youtu.be/Xmu_F3q5fyQ

Wouldn't have scared me that's for sure. I've tamed plenty of chubs in my day!

Actually many people do complain about having to wear a safety harness or take other obvious safety precautions when working in a "confined space" or where you are more than 5' off the ground or in a trench. Hard hats, safety vests, shoring, all designed to save lives, (usually after a life was lost). There is a joke about it taking 5 people to do a one man job, One supervisor, one safety watch, 2 replacements/helpers and one worker. It is not a joke.
