Living in the County of Orange, the quaint, little city of Placentia, I am wondering why Fullerton P.D. is hanging out at in Anaheim/Yorba Linda border. Was he off duty and that's why he was reading magazines??

Unfortunately he was released without being charged thanks to manipulation by Communist attorneys who accused police of brutality.Kelly Thomas was always beligerant towards police and When he was arrested he assaulted the cops with a Rusty nail and caused broken bones.According to liberal media, Officer Cincenelli lost his from a shooting while working for the LAPD. Though your post is 4 months old, I can't help but say your an ASS!!! Thanks to Ronny Reagan, many of our mentally ill were deinstitutionalized without adequate care/supervision, resulting in many ending up on the streets & in jails. Right now somewhere your probably ranting about those horrible retards sucking up tax dollars & breathing up our oxygen. I hope you never sustain a head trauma, otherwise someone like you will want to cut off your air supply.

I believe that these cops should be punished, but... where was the family that let this man roam the city knowing he was a danger to himself and others. When will they take responsability for their part?Why his family not safeguarding him and ensuring he had proper medical help?Now they show up for trails and posible monetary compensation.The officers should spend a long time when and if proven guilty.

About a month after Kelly Thomas died, my brother, who also suffers from schizophrenia, decided to stop taking his medication. He slowly but noticeably became psychotic. Fortunately, he has never been violent, even when in the midst of a psychotic break, but mental illness is unpredictable by nature. We tried every way that we could to get him to take his medication, and we are extremely luck that he eventually complied and he is improving. But he refused at first. He even has a mental health team whose role is to help him manage his illness. When he stopped taking his meds, my mom called his team leader, sobbing, and was told that there was nothing they could do. It was his choice and they had to respect that. Hospitals are even less sympathetic than that. Every time he left our house, we knew it was a possibility that he would never come back. But you can't force a mentally ill person to do anything, because when they are untreated, they have lost the ability to rationalize, and they are also distrustful. Insisting that they seek treatment will not work, and the worst-case scenario is that they will become paranoid of you as a result and leave. My parents looked for help everywhere but families are helpless. They knew that if something happened to my brother, or if he did something to someone, they would be blamed.

A families responsibility ends at what point? Kelly Thomas did not seem to want to live under control of his family. no one seemed to complain of Kelly Thomas surviving in the streets with the exception of some management of the club that called the FPD thugs.

Will the FBI uncover a conspiracy? Will this venue be let off?

I do not believe the family of Kelly Thomas had any responsibility in this at all. One person cannot force another to get help they do not want. I have learned to be skeptical of the mental health agencies, their answers are usually warehousing and drugs with nasty side effects and bullshit go nowhere psychotherapy.

Joe, only reason you need to be scared of the Cops is if you are doing something illegal. Even white anglo Republicans commit crimes from time to time. The Peoples Republic of California is about as far from being a Police State as you can ever find. The essence of the story is, "Don't do the crime, if you can't do the time."

Patrick - if that were even remotely close to being true, people wouldn't be scared of cops. Unfortunately Kelly Thomas, Veth Mam, Eddie Quninonez, and the other hundreds of random victims of police brutality know that this is the worst kind of lie. The kind that denies their humanity, their experience, and their victimization. The cops are the ones who have been doing the crimes without doing the time. No longer. The tables are turning.
