UPDATE, AUG. 8, 5:01 P.M.: Buena Park Police investigators believe William Schilling fatally shot his wife, Susan Schilling, before turning the gun on himself in the master bedroom of their San Benito Way home Sunday morning.

Police spokesman Corporal Andy Luong blamed the murder-suicide on marital strife.

His statement also confirms the couple's identity.

The investigation continues.

ORIGINAL POST, AUG. 8, 9:35 A.M.: Buena Park Police arrived at a home in the 6700 block of San Benito Way Sunday morning to investigate the possible suicide of resident William Schilling.

His son and daughter, who are both in their 20s, were in the home at the time, and she told cops she believed her father had shot himself in the master bedroom. But officers found the body of not only Mr. Schilling there but the body of his wife, Susan Schilling.

Buena Park Police spokesman Corporal Andy Luong says the deaths appeared to be the result of a murder/suicide and that the dead couple were married and in their 50s. But police have not yet indicated who was the shooter and who was the murder victim.

Heck, Luong did not even identify the couple, neighbors did (to the Orange County Register, which confirmed the names through property records).

Luong said the official release of the couple's names in pending notification of next of kin and will be handled by the Orange County Coroner.

Two things: 1) Wasn't it the next of kin who reported the shooting? B) The coroner's informs, "Please refer to the investigating agency for all information."

And so it goes.

Susan, we will truly miss you! It's was a blessing to have known you and we all at work wil miss you greatly!

Well, what position was the murder weapon in, in relation to the bodies? If it's say a shotgun, and in the hands of or near one of the victims, then that should solve it. Drag. I hope they both wanted it. Suicide blows, but when you take someone else out with you, that sucks! Good luck to the surviving family members. I know what that's like...

She was such a great person and didn't deserve this. May peace be with her kids, siblings, friends, and mother
