Gustavo Appears on Marketplace to Explain Why He Likes Illegal Immigrants to Work for Him!

Go for it, folks: I've been the boss of illegal immigrants before! Love me my DREAM Act students, as they're some of the most motivated, talented individuals I've ever encountered--and more than a few of them have journalism degrees, which has allowed me to have them help me in my various media endeavors over the years. In fact, I think any smart newsroom should have a DREAMer in their midst--free labor! But, of course, that won't happen because media organizations care too much about the law and shit.

Which is why my commentary this month
on Marketplace, the public-radio show that airs locally on KPCC-FM 89.3 and KCRW-FM 89.9, is dedicated to that issue. Special shout-outs are included at the end to some of the interns I've had over the years--don't bother trying to figure out who they are, Know Nothings, as they're all prominent leaders in the DREAM Act movement and aren't afraid of your xenophobic pendejadas. Enjoy!

Can I borrow some of your Dream Act workers?  They can clean my toilets and the dog shit in the backyard.

I can't tell if you are pouring yourself an alcoholic beverage or not in your picture.  Are you a reporter or a journalist?

That was clever and was very well delivered! Did you do that in one take?  You've got a career in radio if this print thing ever falls out of fashion!

Gustavo, love your column.  But take a look at this link, it makes sense not to use the word illegal.    http://colorlines.com/dropthei...

thanks for the insights. I really enjoy your commentary.

What makes the "illegal" part of "illegal immigrant" racist?

A white "illegal immigrant" from Canada is also an "illegal immigrant."

Yes, and I'm sure all the current immigration laws in places like Arizona and Georgia are there to ferret out illegal Canadians—or, for that matter, visible-but-not-brown immigrants like Chinese and Romanians.

(I still hope to be pulled over in Arizona and asked to prove I'm not an illegal Swiss.)

About 65% of illegals are from Mexico, and another 15% or so from other 'brown' (i.e. Latin American) countries, so the point is kind of mute. I do know that illegal European immigrants and their employers have been prosecuted. See for example this story of Walmart's employing illegal Eastern Europeans. So much for the 'racism' in immigration laws.

Course from my perspective, seeing as how the US is 66% white, but our *legal* immigrants are 90% non-white  (Mexico alone, with only abut 2% of the worlds population, get's 15% of *legal* immigrant slots) we should be letting in more Polish, Ukrainian, etc people to balance things out. Plus the average Polish girl is so much hotter than the average Mexican.

Damn...not only are they risking it all to come here for a free education, but then they are using the education on a journalism degree. Well, at least they'll be smart and educated. Poor...but educated.

They're amazing students, and—even as undocumented—will do more in life than Mitchie!

Hey, then maybe they should turn their talents to helping their homelands.

You do know that hiring based on national origin is illegal? Sounds like a clear case of racial discrimination going on here.

So, how do you pick and choose which laws to follow? Only the ones you like or make think sense? And how do you justify breaking the law simply because you think it is your right to do so?

These are serious questions, give us serious answers.

Oh, and PLEASE decide on one pseudonym for this blog instead of relying on various uses of my name or just "Guest." Stick to this one, or get the boot—you've been warned. Better yet, how about using your real name? Even Mitchie above, as pendejo as he is, gets more respect from us because he actually has the guts to use a real name. You, on the other hand, are about as courageous as a Catholic bishop reporting pedo-priests to the cops.

Yeah, I don't bother with intelligence with pendejos like you who won't listen to reason—all your ilk deserves are stupidities. Luckily, that ain't difficult for me, either!

I'm sure it isn't worth $0.99. And noone would want to spend anything to buy it, whatever it costs. But, I didn't really expect you to answer any of the questions. As I've said many times before....you aren't smart enough to give an intelligent answer.

Someone buy this man my ¡Ask a Mexican! book--I'm sure you can find it at 99 Cent store by now...

you want to talk about breaking laws? what about the time you beat off in a movie theatre? when you got caught sniffing jock straps at a Giant game? Huh? HUH!?

I believe you are right. The Jose Antonio Vargas/NY Times story from earlier in the year was a good example.

You mean the 1/12 of a story -- the one about the Asian immigrant that gunned down a bunch of Americans.

mitch young

But aren't illegals supposed to be 'doing the jobs Americans won't do'? Is crappy 'journalism' one of those?

You have *interns* and still put out the mierda you do? For God's sake, hire a professional fact checker and copy editor!
