Anarchy in the SC! Posters for Global Revolution Group Anonymous Paper San Clemente

Mysterious posters popped up on trees and light poles along Avenida Pico, Avenida Del Mar and the downtown in San Clemente over the weekend, just as they have in other Orange County cities lately.

They advertise the "global revolution group" Anonymous and direct people to whatis-theplan.org, an equally mysterious site promoting Operation Onslaught, three-pronged worldwide protests against corrupt corporations and government regimes.

As Adam Townsend first reported on Newport Beach Patch, Anonymous has also been linked to the "hacktivist" shutdown of PayPal and major banking websites after those sites refused to funnel money to Wikileaks. Anonymous also supported Wikileaks founder Julian Assange's publication of secret files from the Church of Scientology.

Federal agents arrested 14 suspected members accused of shutting down a website by flooding it with requests for service.

The San Clemente posters featured the Guy Fawkes mask from V for Vendetta and tabs with the What is the Plan address.

"One Year. Three Phases. A World of Change," reads the subhead beneath the site's name. Under the masked image that opened this post are the words, "Expect us," while straddling the face are videos explaining what the movement is all about.

One video scrolls text in English and Spanish that says the idea that "democracy is now" was born at simultaneous demonstrations in 84 cities in Spain on May 15. The other, a "Hive Mind Production," breaks down "The Plan" through an address to "the people of Earth." That's who apparently launched the What is the Plan? movement on June 15, according to the narrator. It plays like something co-produced by the Church of Scientology and the Dharma Initiative.

Viewers are told, "Corporate bigwigs live the high life as they rape the land we all share. We grow up being told who to be. We have been consumed." Consumed ones are later directed to participate in discussion forums.

Despite the bad press for Anonymous, Whatis-theplan.org claims the group now seeks only legal and peaceful change with no hacking, violence, hate speech or criminal methods. And like any good anti-corporate site these days, there is a link to the What is the Plan? shop.

You can't be a proper anarchist without the right t-shirt.

LOL @ these Zeitgeist hippies using anon imagery. The simple fact that they sell T-Shirts, something you'd never find on an anonymous site, kind of suggests they don't quite get the whole Anonymous thing.

Well they probably have to put quite a bit of money into that site of theirs, as theyre puttin out posters with the URL on it.. the site is probby gonna get so much traffic theyll have to pay for a bunch of servers and hire some techies to keep it secure or something like that.  So while I can understand that they need money... really now, a store?  Come on, guys.  A store.  And theyre waaaaaay too vague about what the plan even is.

Too much woo for anon, methinks. UFOs, mind control beans all that kind of stuff you hear on rilly late night talk radio when you're jacked on caffeine.

The Plan is 9 from Outer Space.

Dude, AnonOps is less of Anonymous than what-is-the-plan.  Theyre putting out videos on the internet taunting the Pentagon cryptographers and claiming that the feds are chasing after them, saying "even now, orders are being shouted into telephones, well you'll never catch us, we posted this video behind nine proxies" as if anyone gives a shit.  These kids obviously dont know what the Hell theyre talking about, the FBI will just contact Youtube and take the video down if they want to, which of course, they dont even care about.  AnonOps is the reason why Anonymous is called a griefing hacker group and why Anonymous is turning self destructive.  ANONOPS IS WHY WE CANT HAVE NICE THINGS

Apparently WITP has decided to abandon the whole "let's pretend to be part of Anonymous" because the internet hate machine didn't like what they were doing.http://pastebin.com/fWmw8q79 lulz

Well i think it was good overall for Anonymous though, as you and I know it was just a PR think cooked up to soften the public image of Anonymous after they were blamed for the PSN hackings, but the plan really did spread the word.  Hell, I looked the posters up myself cause I saw posters at the beach concert "Journey" tribute.  next time I think Ill actually do a street campaign, I mean tothe everyday passerby theyre just weirdoes anyways so while most of the followers are the new guys, giddy to get in on some street action, but at least its softening Anon's image even though the plan is just to go out and tell people about Anonymous.
