PBS SoCal, which was formerly known as KOCE/Channel 50, is scheduled to break ground this morning on new studio headquarters on the first floor of the South Coast Corporate Center at 3080 Bristol St., Costa Mesa.

Production studios, which are expected to be completed by the fall, will join PBS SoCal's corporate offices that moved into the building in January.

Until shows are ready to roll in Costa Mesa, production will continue at Golden West College in Huntington Beach, where KOCE and PBS SoCal operated for years.

When KCET/Channel 28 dropped PBS programming beginning on Jan. 1, KOCE became Southern California's flagship public broadcasting station, and changed its name to PBS SoCal to reflect this.

Among those scheduled to participate in today's groundbreaking ceremonies are: Mel Rogers, president & CEO of PBS SoCal; Jo Ellen Chatham, president of the PBS SoCal Board of Directors; Costa Mesa Mayor Gary Monahan; Costa Mesa City Councilman Jim Righeimer; Costa Mesa City Manager Tom Hatch; Host and Inside OC executive producer Rick Reiff; PBS SoCal on-air talent Cami Dixon; Real Orange hosts Ed Arnold and Ann Pulice; and Clifford, the star of the PBS Kids animated series Clifford The Big Red Dog.
