Layoffs Said to Rock Los Angeles Times

A media news site reports there were major layoffs at the Los Angeles Times today.

Fishbowl LA does not get into specifics with numbers.

However, some of the names mentioned after the jump will shock longtime readers.

They include: columnist Tim Rutten, NBA writer Mark Heisler and assistant business editor Sharon Bernstein.

"We're told the Calendar section will largely be spared, losing mainly expense and freelance budgets," writes Fishbowl's Matthew Fleisher. "But that 'features (health, travel, food etc) is getting hit harder.'"

More sad news is said to be coming.

Maybe sone of them can take over a few jobs at the OCweekly.....A great series would be Mexican gang members, and how they affected the community. It could run every Monday at 5.  I would read it.

Boy it's a good thing I got my LAPBAND installed before Dawn got her letter. I might have had to pay for it myself!

Either that or put her back on the pole (ala dancing with the stars).

Wow, I mean, I am pretty much in disagreement with everything about the times editorially and news-slant wise. But how can the paper lose much more? I mean, remember when it was this big hunking thing, esp. on Sundays? Now its like a Karen Carpenter of its former self. Can death be far off? Too bad, they'll not meet their goal of driving every white person who doesn't work in infotainment or make more than $150,000 per years out of the state.

Times editor addressed colleagues: "Comrades..."

How fitting.

You obviously don't read the OC weekly much or even know what I am talking about. So do everyone a favor and STFU. Loser asshole.
