Top Five Warnings for Disney World "Revelers" About the Florida Family Association

Categories: Dishney
Rainbow Mickey Mouse Ears
Disney loves gays. Who doesn't? The Florida Family Association (FFA), that's who. But it's not enough for the FFA to merely hate gays. They also want to hate anyone who accepts gays. This especially includes anyone (straight or otherwise) who supports Disney World's week-long event known as "Gay Days."

The annual event encourages gay couples to bring their children to Disney World in Orlando to take part in numerous different events. Approximately 150,000 people attend the event every year, dumping nearly $150 million into the local economy over the week. But none of that matters to the FFA.

But just how much does the FFA hate gays? Well, enough to rent an airplane and tow a sign that read "WARNING GAY DAY AT DISNEY 6/4" high above the parks this past Saturday.

Learn more about this ridiculous stunt, and learn what Disney World vacationers (gay, straight and otherwise) should be warned about the Florida Family Association, after the jump.

I don't know about you guys, but if I saw this sign flying high above Disney World it would totally make me take off running for the straight hills:

gay_day_ffa.jpg

I've got to be honest: I thought every day was gay day at Disney.

According to the FFA, the mere sight of gays within the park causes "as many as 10,000 people" to "promptly exit" the park. Where they're getting these statistics is anyone's guess.

So in an attempt to fight one's sincere stupidity with some admittedly inane stupidity, I've come up with this list of five things that Disney World "revelers" (this is the term that the FFA uses to refer to homosexual parkgoers) should be warned about when it comes to the Florida Family Association.

1. They are small-minded bigots: This one should speak for itself. Don't feel bad though, gays, because they also hate Muslims. I know, big shock.

2. They elected Jeb Bush as Governor:
For two terms! And his name is Jeb! Of course, this is something most of the entire state of Florida took part in, but I think it's pretty safe to say that there isn't a member of the FFA who didn't vote for him.

3. They rent planes and fly over highly-populated areas to harass and intimidate people: They have another name for these types of people as well: terrorists. Sure, maybe they didn't nosedive their tiny two-seater into the Tea Cups (gays love that ride because, duh, everyone knows that gays love tea), but they're still purposely fucking with the psyche and mental well-being of everyone who sees their hate-filled message. Believe me, I'm no advocate of waterboarding, but it would be interesting to hear just how much information David Caton has. Or it might just be fun.

4. They hate Campbell's Soup: No shit. What is more American than Campbell's Soup?!? Who hates Campbell's Soup?!? Wait a minute... Campbell's Soup... Andy Warhol... the homoerotic Factory scene in New York during the sixties... nope, I still don't get it.

5. They got "Skins" cancelled on MTV:
Or at least they claim they did. Okay... maybe they're not 100% awful. But no, really, they are.

No one is alowed to have an opinion, unless it's the gay opinion, at least if your gay it seems....steer in any other direction of supporting them and you are bashed...hmmm, kind of what they are saying that the straight people do...you can't even ask a simple question on one of these websites because your beliefs are different and you do not want to subject your children to gay days without a bunch of gay people feeling the need to debate their stance...get over it!! Your gay...great. But I am NOT and am entitled to my own feelings as well...I do not want to bring my 5 and 12 year old to a park during gay days and have to explain anything to them on my family vacation...TOO BAD if you don't like that.  Simply trying to share information and get information to make an informed decision turns in to lecturing from a bunch of gays....ugh.

Okay, you are gay. Fine. Good. Enjoy that. Gay the day away. My only issue is with you (or anyone) going to a place made for children to exhibit your sexuality. To me this seems creepy. Like wearing a shirt that says "I heart boobs" to a playground. It's inappropriate.

Did you see how he got away with using the Fword in #3?  I may be getting older but I thought that was still taboo in a public document.

What is hateful about that message?  Just because someone doesn't feel comfortable around homosexuals or likes a particular atmosphere when they go to a theme park doesn't mean they hate them.  I see "warning" signs all the time about different subjects and in no way do I interpret them as hateful.  "Tolerance" as may different groups push for doesn't mean they have to be liked only tolerated.  The language in this article is much more hate filled than the message flying above Disney.

Holy buckets, most of you don't even know what the hell you're talking about. I'm thinking the dude who said, "The bible can gargle my balls", is the most on key here.

I find scaring people by putting out bigotry fro the world to see to be very un-Christian. Live and let live, please don't drill bigotry into our minds via fear mongering. Associations like the FFA just exist to hurt other people's feelings, or so it seems. That's not cool. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but flying an anti-gay flag over Orlando is abuse of the fifth amendment. It's extreme in a negative way.

I could try to argue religion with some of these people, oh, say by pointing out that Leviticus also says you should sacrifice animals to the Lord (I hope you're not doing this) or that you should stone rape victims (I really hope you're not doing this), or that it's more in keeping with Jesus' life and message to take the money the FFA used to hire the plane and feed some poor people, but you have your right to your religious beliefs.  Of course, so does Disney and so do all of us.  You don't like gay people?  Okay.  You think they're going to burn?  Alright.  Me too?  That's fine.  The point is, Disney is a private company (and an awesome supporter of the LGBT community), the people attending Gay Days are private citizens, and no one asked your opinion.  If Christians really want to show people the way and the light do what Jesus did and lead by example, instead of 'do as I say and not as I do'.  I have really good friends who are really good Christians, and they've done more to convince me of the merits of that religion without ever saying one word to convert me than all the evangelical, hell-fire closet-bigots ever could.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. As a Catholic I have been subject to bigotry at the hands of people who call themselves "Christians". Because, you know, being Catholic automatically makes me a pedophile . I just walk away from those people. They have the right to their beliefs, and I have the right to my religion and to be a liberal hippie. Being bitter is no way to live. I wish people were true to that phrase "Love thy neighbor". Shiny happy people holding hands and all that jazz. But I DON'T believe in forcing religion, or any way of thinking for that matter, onto people.

Big up Voltaire, that's how I see it.

Btw, religion is meant to reinforce ones faith in what he/she believes... not to force unto others. Show them what's up, but if their ideals do not parallel yours, they are not less of a person.... that is what's great about America... freedom.

As for the FFA, I don't see why they HAVE to fly a sign... why don't they start physically assaulting people? That way their bigot-asses can rot away, following in America's justice system.

Shea Lyn, i was raised in a very wealthy family in Orange County Ca, and have two AA's a BAS and am getting my MBA at UCLA as we speak.. It wasn't until i realized how much money and self fame had no meaning, maybe it's just that the poor and un-educated have less to distract them from truth and cant supply tangible items to temporarily fill the need we have for God in all of us.

What makes you so high and mighty that you get to tell other people how to live their lives? You wouldn't like it if the law was only homosexuals could marry, so why the hell would you do that to other people who if you are a true christian, you consider your 'brothers and sisters'. Jesus himself said the way to live out the commandments was through love. when you tell people they can't get married because of who they love, then your'e not loving them, as you take away their happiness. I think if you're a true christian you would just be happy that these people have somebody to love, and would be happy for them, instead of tryin to change who they are.

Does anyone realize how many gay people work at Disney? They serve you food, make sure you are seated safely in the attraction, clean the restrooms, make sure the park is safe, and last but not least.........they are characters.  If the ffa can not handle it than they should stay home and Never leave the house.

Bill T.
Bill T.

You don't think that anyone "making out" in the park would not be asked to leave? Your kids see a guy give his friend a little kiss (maybe they're not gay but just goofing around!) junior says "Mommy, why are those two guys kissing?", "Well, junior, some guys kiss each other.  Hey, THERES GOOFY! Go say hi to Goofy!". It's only a big deal if YOU (underlined, bolded) make it so. In some cultures that are even more reprssive than ours it's common for men that are close, say friends or family, to hold hands and kiss. Get over it.

Mark G.
Mark G.

So you'd be okay with "subjecting" your kids to watching a man and a woman make out in public? Because that's not gross to watch either, right? Come on.

And yes, you are a bigot as well. Luckily, you're a bigot who doesn't know how to spell the word "turd," so you're probably not much of an influence on society.

Dzylema,  it is your prerogative to raise you family as you see fit and I do not disagree with that.  But as a compassionate Christian you could explain the situation to your children and then reinforce your beliefs unto them as the act of homosexuality is wrong in your god's eyes.  You could also show some of that "famous" Christian compassion and charity and explain why you do not love they neighbor as your god dictates to you.  Also while you are at it, explain to your lovely children (no sarcasm there) why you are teaching them that belittling, ostracizing, or exclusion from others is a good path to follow as this leads to a pure and enlightened world in which they will live and hopefully lead.

You need to understand your history!  Goerge Washington's letters to his troops and congress were full of Bibical quotes.  He prayed constantly as did all the founding fathers!  The USA was a country where people could worship God as they wished; Catholic, Protatestant, Baptist, etc.  In England, you had to worship God as the King did.  If the King was Catholic, then you had to be Catholic or die.  If he decided to be Protestant, then you had to be or die.  Where did you go to school?  You must have flunked basic history.

Educated User

Gay and Educated, our fundamental laws were based off of christian beliefs. And you tell all the people who have been killed in other countries for simply being an American, which is always associated with Christianity as our countries religion. Even though they had no belief system. Separation of church and state was to protect the church from regimental laws created by states. As a believer i am thankful for this, i don't want anyone controlling how i can worship God. It's funny because gay people hate religion, yet preach it and try to enforce their own. See being gay is your religion, you flock to gay filled areas, worship gay icons side by side in mass amounts, donate to the same causes, fight for rights, and stand up for your doctrinal belief system, how is that not a religion?......

WHAT?!? I WON'T?!? Well, then I change my mind and take it all back.

But wait, isn't God forgiving no matter what? Or is he just a megalomaniac who only saves those who worship him? What about those who have NO CLUE that he exists and therefore can't worship him? What about babies or children who die before they can learn? Or mentally handicapped people? Or people living in Third World countries who have no concept of religion? What about all of those people? Do they get a pass? If so, I think I'm entitled to one as well.

and turdo43 Using the Lords name in vain has nothing to do with saying "god damn it".. the proper translation is "do not take the lord name in vain", being that if you are a believer you essentially have the Lords name written on you as "His", so say you as a believer spend some time in a porn shop, you are then taking what appears to be a person changed by the lord into a foul place, taking it in vain and not abstaining, it refers more to actions of a believer than the mouth..

Dear Educated Believer,

I do believe you have the Seperation of Church and State backwards.  It should read that no religion will be established as the defacto standard within the Nation.  Thus we are free to worship as we see fit within ourselves and not to be dictated to by others....

Also, I personally know of quite a few (takes shoes off to count) homosexuals that are VERY faithful to God that do not follow any religious sect.  So I can understand why you would use "It's funny because gay people hate religion" as your viewpoint as I deem you to be of the religious sect and not of the true faithful.

And to bring another point to light about religious individuals, just how many priests have been convicted of molestation and homosexual acts with minors?

Christine Gaydos

Educated Believer, wrong again, our fundamental laws were based off of philosophies followed by followers of the Masonic order, as well as Enlightenment thinkers such as Voltaire. Please, at LEAST turn the History channel on before making such a statement again.
