| Perhaps Sanchez should have used a different book cover |
A newspaper reported this week that the 2008 published memoir written by Orange County Congresswoman
Loretta Sanchez and her sister has earned them "nothing."
Ouch.
According to the Washington, D.C.-based Roll Call, Linda Sanchez--Loretta's sister who also is a member of Congress--indirectly revealed the poor book sales in a mandatory financial disclosure report.
The Sanchez sisters, both California Democrats, were hoping to collect a 7.5 percent royalty after the first $35,000 in sales for Dream in Color: How the Sanchez Sisters Are Making History in Congress.
But the paper also noted that Amazon is now selling the book for $1.65 and that "used copies are available" for a penny.
Though the pair is the first sister-sister duo to serve simultaneously in Congress, they should have written a suspense novel involving a "hunky symbologist" and a "secret Catholic sect" rather than a book on their thoughts about life and politics, teased one of Roll Call's columnists.
