[UPDATED: Event is THIS THURSDAY] William Nericcio, San Diego State Professor, to Bring his "Museum of Mexican Stereotypes" to Fullerton April 28

Original post, April 5, 3:25 p.m.: This is going to be fun: William Nericcio, professor of English at San Diego State, the nation's premier expert on Mexican stereotypes, and author of the best academic book you'll ever read, Tex(t)-Mex: Seductive Hallucinations of the 'Mexican' in America, will come to Fullerton April 28 as part of my "Gustavo's Awesome Lecture Series!" at the Fullerton Public Library.

But it's not going to be your average, boring back-and-forth between hack scholars: Nericcio will bring his traveling Museum of Mexican Stereotypes.

More accurately called "Mexstacy," it consists of Nericcio's collection of grotesque Mexican stereotypes throughout the ages: Latin lovers, spicy señoritas, greasers, cholos, illegals, and all other Mexi tropes you can imagine (one of whom you see above in Salma's bountiful bosom glory). He'll have some of them up for viewing before our talk, and afterward, of course. Doors open at 6 p.m. for the exhibit, and lecture starts at 6:30 April 28 at the Fullerton Public Library, 353 W. Commonwealth Ave., Fullerton, (714) 738-6333. Lecture is FREE. See you there!
