What is up with Orange County's hilarious haters these days? We don't know if it's because we killed our Racist OC Register Reader Fustercluck of the Day column, but one thing is certain: this county just can't stop popping up in the news when it comes to racism, racial insensitivity, and bad jokes. The latest example: Orange County GOP central committee member and birther nutjob Marilyn Davenport sends out an email depicting U.S. President Barack Obama and his parents as--get this--chimpanzees! The punchline posits that this photo explains why the Prez won't hand over his state of Hawaii long-form birth certificate.
After the Weekly's very own R. Scott Moxleybroke this story, he also nailed an exclusive interview in which Davenport apologized for her bad judgment, but continued to resist calls that she resign her post.
So is the Davenport kerfuffle Orange County's most embarrassing bigotry-related scandal? Or would that honor go to...
2) Or how about that blonde UCLA student's YouTube rant about Asians talking in the library in which she mocked their conversations in a stereotypical sing-song voice. That's not really an OC brouhahaha, but we did blog about it, and you can see our coverage and various clever remixes of the video here.
4) Speaking of bad MLK day tributes, how about the UC Irvine cafeteria that chose to celebrate by offering chicken and waffles on the menu. Would you like some watermelon with that turkey?
5) Did somebody say watermelons? Why yes, somebody did. Back in 2009, Los Alamitos Mayor Dean Grose resigned after catching fire for sending out a greeting card showing a field of watermelons growing in the front yard of the White House. You can see the full card here.
Readers, you get to decide which of the above items contains the most racism and/or bigotry Vote early and vote often!
I live in Orange County. Color me EMBARRASSED by the ignorant, bigoted racists who also live here! I will never vote repubLIE-KKK-CON. They never get any real work done, and instead spend time and tax payer money on hate and racism and pretending to be Christian but never behaving like one.
Keep the pressure on Old Hag Davenport to resign. Another rally in front of her Fullerton house would be good - but this time, the organizers need to get the word out better. We need date, time, address.
Boy, I hear about a deadly brawl at an OC restaurant on KTLA, so I make a bee-line for 'Navelgazing', because, despite the obnoxious politics, the ethnically driven agenda (on the part of you-know-who) and despite the self-hating Caspers here, you guys do do a good job covering local news.
But what do I find -- no mention of the brawl, but you guys are *still* milking the 'scoop' about an allegedly racist email forwarded from an obscure county GOP official's private (I believe) email account. Priorities, guys, priorities.
But I'll play anyway. What about every single MEChista in every single post secondary institution in the county? Or how about the Rep. 'the Vietnamese are trying to take our seat' Sanchez?
Obviously Nick Schou has bought into the 'white privilege' BS; what else would account for picking on some poor college kid but ignoring an racially-motivated congressperson.
Remember when the GOP stood for balanced budgets, individual freedom and isolationism.
The Republican Party has run up these deficits, we want the federal government to be in our bedrooms and between our women and their doctors, we started two wars instead of ending them like the Korean War and were supposed to stop the Vietnam War the Democrats started. We have lost our way!
So why waste our time with these fools who use their racist rhetoric, like this Marilyn Davenport and Donald Trump with his birther unproven myth, why do we allow our Fox news people to keep talking down our country. Don’t they know we can win the next election with optimism and hope instead of the current rhetoric, that the sky is falling, if we are not careful we will end up like chicken little where no one will listen to us.
I was just being sarcastic down there. Unfortunately there's no edit or delete button on our comments so I should have replied on that earlier. Sorry to anyone for the misunderstanding.
I'm against all forms of hate but I do hate being the "Evil White Devil" in all these racism subjects in the media whether in print, movies, advertisements or tv shows. There are other races of people who are racists but it's never pointed out, just like in this article. Most whites aren't racist, just stereotyped because we're "rednecks" or "white supremists" or whatever the latest anti-racism topic displayed in public.
No, I'm not a "redneck" or a "white supremist" or a hater but I do hate being called one because of my white skin. My friends and I don't like it when a Latino looking person is called a "Mexican" or slur word either. Yes, a broken record to say this but I've had friends of different races all my life based on common interests. Golly, I sound special... Shazam!
Just for the sake of argument, let's say that Ms. Davenport did not intend the photo as a racist insult. Even, in such a case, she still exhibits a level of integrity, intelligence and or prudence below what we should consider acceptable for a public servant. And, anyway, rednecks are one of the lesser aspects of the south (yeah, I know, the hag is in California).
You are talking about a vile, vicious, duplicitous, khunt who thinks its funny to depict our President as a monkey, and that its funny to illustrate the white house lawn as a watermelon patch all because he's black, and that they shouldn't plant more grass in open recreational areas of Newport Beach so as not to attract more Mexicans. Face it her and Deborah Pauly are the new face of White Racists Supremacists from Orange County and you are their sympathizer. She deserves as much respect as you do, so phouck her and phouck u.
Right, like the folks that tell us that 'La Raza' the organization is not racist and denying even that the word means 'Race'. Of course it does, as in biological race, breed (un perro de raza Pastor Alemán), and of course they are (you don't see them pushing for opening up immigration from the Ukraine, for example).

You're the idiot. They weren't calling W. a nigger They were constantly -- and I mean constantly -- comparing him to a chimp. And please note, I'm not calling anyone nigger, I just hate this 'n-word' BS in a forum where 'redneck', 'hag', cunt etc are okay. It's yet another example of double standards and special privileges.
If comparing one human being to a chimp is evil and racist, comparing another human being to a chimp is evil and racist. No double standards, no special privileges.
back in the 80's sometimestory was the late/great miles davis was pulled over by newport's finest in his delorean on pchfirst question"do you own this car?"
I'm just being sarcastic here. Just tired of all the racism articles and another movie coming out about racist white folks. In reality there's racism in all races of people. Amusing thing is somebody who visited me from Britian told me that our media (movies, TV shows, advertisements, magazine ads, etc.) portrays black people as the superior race here in Los Angeles. Very amusing.
"OC Republican Party VP Deborah Pauly called a Muslim charity event "pure unadulterated evil" in a speech to fellow Tea Party types." There were a lot more hateful intentions with this than some silly picture.
She did not call the fundraising event "pure unadulterated evil" - she called what was going on there - ie. the terrorist supporting radical Islamist speakers speaking there "pure unadulterated evil" - and she was correct in that statement.
