[UPDATED] Marilyn Davenport: Real Racists Are Democrats; Sees Chance to Use Her Racist Email to Win Black Votes For GOP

hypnosis-trance.jpg
Repeat after me: Racist emails are actually pro-black.
UPDATE, APRIL 22, 2:05 P.M.: The executive committee of the OC Republican Party voted today 10-2 to send the Marilyn Davenport matter to the ethics committee, says the FlashReport.com's Jon Fleischman, a prominent local Republican who supported the motion. He identified the two "no" voters: Pat Shuff, a GOP activist in Fullerton, and the party's first vice chairman, Deborah Pauly, who caused a huge mess earlier this year when she made anti-Muslim statements in public. The ethics group will meet on Saturday.

ORIGINAL POST, APRIL 22, 10:54 A.M.: If Fullerton's Marilyn Davenport was hoping that her national notoriety would end so she could fade back into obscurity, she sure didn't show it this morning during a feisty appearance on KABC-AM 790's Larry Elder talk show.

Last Friday, Davenport--an elected member of the Orange County Republican Central Committee and a grandmother with Tea Party sympathies--sent fellow conservatives an email that depicted President Barack Obama as a chimpanzee and has given various explanations that have altered between unapologetic to "humbly" seeking forgiveness.

Yet during her KABC appearance this morning Davenport reiterated that she blames herself for igniting the scandal but went on to blame Democrats for having a "double standard" about racism and Republicans for not keeping her email a secret from the media.

Elder, a prominent black conservative talk radio host based in Los Angeles, got Davenport to agree that the "real racists" are Democrats and to credit Republicans for insisting on the nation's civil rights advancements.

"Take the initiative [and attack Democrats]," Elder encouraged her. "You've got nothing to lose."

He then told Davenport that if she goes "on the offensive" she can help "crack" the Democratic Party's "hold over blacks" during elections.

"Get people to start thinking of themselves as individuals," said Elder, who claims that Bill Clinton has made racist remarks and never apologized.

"Yes," she replied, noting that she agreed with everything the talk show host said.

"My thoughts to your thoughts . . ."
Tim Whitacre, the fellow Orange County Republican Party official and former U.S. Marine who is aiding Davenport with the media, also appeared on the show, defended the email as a non-offensive joke, called Davenport "of sound mind and reason," and declared, "We are not going to let the [political] Left dictate this."

Whitacre called OC GOP chairman Scott Baugh "treacherous and traitorous" for giving OC Weekly an interview at the outset of the scandal and labeling the email as "dripping with racism."

Baugh has said that he had "no choice" but to strenuously denounce the email once I'd called him to comment on Davenport's actions.

But Whitacre said Baugh's position should have been, "Move on. Nothing to see here folks."

Go HERE to see my new "Moxley Confidential" column on the scandal or go HERE to see my original, exclusive coverage of the email.

These extreme righties like to ignore the 150+ year history of caricatures depicting blacks as apes or monkeys. The email could have just as easily conveyed Obama as a "jackass" (donkey = democrat) rather than as a blatant racist caricature. You cannot separate historical context from such powerful images. They are set deep into the memory of our culture.

It would have been more honorable if she stood up for who she is , a full grown racist. Nobody asked herto make those comments. She volunteered them on her own. The only reason she is denounsing herself, is because of the negative publicity she has gotten from it.Let some guy hale her and you will see the full brunt of her dark nature within.

I look at pic and wonder who looks more of an ape, she or Obama?

Boy howdy. I'm a recent transplant to OC, but I grew up in KKK country down by the Texas-Louisiana border as part of the rare intelligentsia. I have NEVER, EVER seen racism as mean and proud as in Orange County. I can understand the perpetuity of racism more from poor whites living in trailers, but OC'ers who live in million-dollar homes? The rhetoric may be more sophisticated in OC that where I grew up, but mean and stupid is still mean and stupid.

That hateful old hag should be sat down for an e-mail like that. She has no right to maintain her current status with the GOP. If she thought it was not racist why not send it to everyone instead of who she thought it would be safe with? Because she knew it was wrong. If she doesn't agree with his politics then she should say that, but to liken him to a baby monkey is definitely racist and insulting. If any one resembles a monkey it's her old wrinkled up, no lip face. Since Obama became President more and more of these racist have felt comfortable showing their true colors. That's because they know above things he will not respond to that kind of madness. But as people and especially black people we have got to stand up and say what it is. If you are black and racist you have every right to be, because when you look in the history books you still see where we were lynched for simply being black and no other reason. There were no whites being enslaved and lynched simply because of the color of their skin, only blacks and indians. No one ever showed pictures of bush or clinton this way. I never even heard so much rhetoric as you do now under Obama. And the SH&T we are in now happened way before his watch. I am black and I don't agree with everything he says but I think he is doing the best possible job under the circumstances. ALL ETHNICS BETTER LEARN HOW TO STICK TOGETHER BECAUSE AS YOU CAN SEE THEY HAVE NOW TURNED ON THE HISPANICS. WHO IS NEXT????? IT COULD BE YOU. AND YOU KNOW WILD ANIMALS EAT THEIR OWN WHEN EVERYTHING ELSE IS GONE!!!!!!!

Elder is a real tool. If he thinks that blacks vote for politicians because of the letter behind the name of a candidate, he is mistaken. We vote for candidates for the same reason as most Americans--because their views are more in line with ours. To say that we don't consider the issues is an insult. I come from a family in which my parents would study the candidates' positions in both parties, discuss them with us, our neighbors, and our church members, and then, my parents would decide which candidates for whom to vote. Some conservatives don't realize that by saying things like Elder says that the GOP insults our intelligence and makes us less receptive to their outreach efforts. It's difficult to get someone to vote for your candidates when those candidates and their supporters are constantly disparaging you.

Meanwhile, outside the relatively safe confines of OC, race relations continue as normal.

I am a former U.S. Marine. And, I am wondering how is being a former U.S. Marine relevant to this story. The expertise of a U.S. Marine may be relevant to military matters, but not political matters. Marines come in all colors and with many different party affiliations. So, are we supposed to believe that Tim Whitacre's statements have more credibility because he is a former U..S. Marine. Does his being a former U.S. Marine make him an expert on racial issues. I doubt it. I have seen racial bias by some Marines.

I believe Mrs. Davenport is unfairly being picked on by Scott Baugh. Obama has NEVER SHOWN AN ACTUAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE and has spent a very considerable sum of TAXPAYER'S MONEY to seal all of his records. WHY????????? By so doing, he has set himself up for speculation and ridicule. The e-mail Mrs. Davenport forwarded has been widely circulated on the internet, and no one I have talked to thought it was racist! We all thought it was appropriate due to obama's coverup! By the way, the newspaper article I read about this, said that only a few critics maintain that obama was born in Kenya rather than Hawaii. That is an outright falsehood, depending on the definition of a few! MILLIONS OF US think that there is something VERY WRONG with obama's coverup of his actual birth records and his school records. WHAT IS HE HIDING? IS HE REALLY A LEGITIMATE PRESIDENT? And if he isn't, WHO helped him with this monstrous scam??????

This story is weird. The e-mail is not racist. If it showed the Prez as a gorilla, then it might have been. You see, the three great apes have their human counterparts in the following; Orangutans are Asians, Chimpanzees are whites, and Gorillas are blacks. There is nothing offensive about any of this. I love Chimpanzees & would not be offended if somebody caricatured me as any kind of ape, or even a monkey for that matter.

I think maybe we are all so called racists to some degree, I am sure it is do to peoples needs to be BETTER then other people, I am also sure that no matter how much everyone tries to be POLITICALLY CORRECT this is never going to be a solved issue. Knowing that ,if everyone stops trying to change humans core beliefs and just accept the the fact that no one can change any one else's character or mind for that matter, and just not fuel the fires that make such statements and actions so important that we focus on the crude and mean crap that some of us spread. I think that if we just not listen to or forward the Crap, stop it in its tracks we might be able to deal with more important matters at hand

Mr Johnston, PLEASE, the level of ignorance that I have seen and heard since Obama was elected President is nothing that I've seen in my 70 years on this earth. (And I grew up in the South) This "birther" issue is one of the most ignorant so call theories that I have heard. And to believe educated and uneducated people are jumping on this band wagon is even more absurd.

Briana

I he was able to get nominated is because he has a birth certificate. Have we ever asked for birth certificates this way to other presidents? I think Republicans are trying to disrupt the good work our president is doing. They are jealous because he is doing a better job than many Republican Presidents.

majii

Most likely, you've never had to live under segregation in this country, never had every move you make questioned, never had someone take one look at you and decide that you're an "undesirable" person, and you have probably never been the object of racism bigotry, and discrimination your entire life the way that some of us have. President Obama's birth certificate is a non-issue, just like all of the suspicions that people like yourself have had about those whom they consider to be "the other(s") throughout this country's history. George Stephanopoulos showed Michelle Bachmann a copy of the president's bc earlier this week, and she says that, as far as she is concerned, the issue is settled. Rudy Guiliani, Karl Rove, and Bill O'Reilly say the president's bc is a non-issue. Now, I believe you're smarter than your post seems to indicate. Ask yourself, if President Obama wasn't born in Hawaii in 1961, why wouldn't one of the other candidates who ran on the republican and democratic tickets in 2008 NOT have exposed this information at that time? It would have been in their best interest to do so because it would have meant that one of them would have won the election, and Obama would not be in the WH. How would Obama have been able to be editor of the Harvard Law Review, served in the Illinois legislature, been a professor of constitutional law at the University of Chicago, have been a civil rights lawyer, and served in the U.S. Congress and kept this hidden all of those years? Settle down and think about it. Even Joseph Farah of World Net Daily sent his own researchers to HI to investigate this issue, and his paper reported that the president's bc was valid. I hate to tell you, but you and millions of others are being lied to and used for fundraising purposes, to win elections, and by some on the right to make money. Farah knows what his researchers discovered, but he also knows that if he can keep the conspiracy going, he can keep people coming to his blog and keep them buying the books that Corsi and the others are peddling through his site. Please, don't allow them to continue using you for their own purposes.

Alpslave

Oh GAWD give the birther thing a rest. He showed his birth certificate. It is valid and real. If he had been born in Kenya or on Pluto he would be an American citizen regardless because his mother is! You people make me violently ill.

You think that's bad, what about John McCain? He was born in a hospital in Panama and that's not a U.S. territory, yet his credability as an American wasn't questioned. However, his decision to select Sarah Palin as a potential VP pretty well screwed his credability to serve as a U.S. President.

You should get back on the internet and look up Obama's Birf Certificate (it's spelled Birf in Hawaii).

Just to be honest, there is speculation that the beat down wasn't so much racially motivated as that the woman/girl may be transgendered and been using the women's bathroom. Still, its about hate, but given who the perps are, it won't get a lot of play in the MSM.
