It's always a blast to read the polite histories of Orange County and compare them to the true story. Take, for instance, their treatment of Tustin pioneer and former councilmember John F. Pieper, for whom the city's Pieper Lane (in the ritzy Tustin Ranch area) is named.

He ran Pieper's Feed Store from 1918 to the 1950s, a vital component of the small town in the days where its high school's Tillers nickname was more than a remembrance of the old days. The Pieper family remains in the area, with one of his daughters getting called upon during history celebrations to recall the good old days until her passing a couple of years back.

Part of her daddy's days? The Klan.

Pieper must've really believed in the White cause, as the membership roster of the Orange County KKK lists him as the only Tustin resident who ever joined the Invisible Empire. Unlike the cities of Brea or La Habra, joining the Klan wasn't a de facto requirement for doing business in the city. And as previously disclosed in this series, there were dozens of other fraternal organizations around at the time that Pieper could've joined, leading to the conclusion the man was a raving racist. No other way around it--IT'S IN THE MEMBERSHIP FORM, PEOPLE.

Wonder what sort of conversations Pieper had with a young Jimmy "Barefoot Africans" Utt back in the day...do the polite histories mention any of this? Nope--HILARIOUS!

Gustavo, your principal inclinations expresses capacities immersed in an acumen proportion closer to the north side of bottom dwellers who retain IQs of 19. Illiberality in this case is covetous. Your partisan stupidity masked as literacy exposes your psychobabble. The race-baiting and entitlement rhetoric is deplorable. The former president of Mexico, Ernesto Zedillo, went before a group of illegals in Chicago and said, "I have proudly affirmed that the Mexican nation extends beyond the territory enclosed by its borders, and that Mexican migrants are a very important part of it." The La Raza Nazis are the eternal adolescent students of a vast lethargic dilapidated transnational campus for smash and grab Latino identity, feigned compassion, multiculturalism (theirs), multilingual (theirs), multiethnic (theirs), immorality (theirs), and the stupefying quest for colonization by idiots who puposely misinterpret dissent as hate, but hold dear the modish gloss on a cult of racial grandiose narcissism, La Raza, the typical East LA and Bay Area hallucinations. Far from being moribund, the never-before-seen illegal alien invasion is a deliberate and proselytizing incline. It has poured into this country as the storm of the century, raising specious anti-American racists at every turn. They, as do the myriad of cowards of their inclination have a tendency to lash out at those who oppose tens of millions of illegal aliens, assuming that those of us who do not fall in line must be motivated by base prejudices of racism and self-indulgence. How dreadful are the curses which the tsunami of illegal aliens lays on its votaries. If left undistubed, the Southwest will become a giant Kosova, a part of the nation separated from the rest of us by language, ethnicity, history, and culture.La Raza, the Mexican government, Aztlan dreamers, and anchor babies want it all to be reabsorbed in all but name by Mexico. To understand the resentment of so many Mexicans against America, especially descendants of the Spanish who had ruled what is now Mexico, and had made claims to lands that are now the American Southwest, since Cortes came ashore in 1521, to independence in 1821, one must understand the history Mexicans are taught never to forget. The Latino community will always be associated with fraud, and dishonesty. It is the nature of this demographic, and to the majority of Americans, it will never be anything but. On one side are the immoral traitorous elite print media, the courts and a few politicians fronting for employer and Mexico's interests; on the other are the far more numerous, and raucous, talk-radio listeners, bloggers and cable news watchers, the ballot propositions, and populist state legislators who better reflect the angry pulse of the country. They know that at any given moment, Americans could take to the streets and demand an end to this menace, or be forced to take matters into their own hands. It is the sole reason why Mexico sends its people here - and why not encourage them with Reconqusita rhetoric and psychobabble that they could actually conquer America? How long do you think Americans are going to stand by and watch it happen? For the moment, you should thank your lucky stars that Americans are indeed civil...

Senator, When you present Gustavo with facts or challenge him intelectually to the point where he can no longer bob and weave by calling you a troll or a racist, He'll simply ignore you. Welcome to the club. There was a story a couple weeks ago about the dude in Fullerton Albert Hetebrink, and a Daughter of the alleged Klanster's Mexican friend said the guy was one of the nicest people she ever met and was considered family to them. the oficial response from Gustavo... Typical, Nothing. Oh and also not the only time someone has gone to try and research his alleged sources and came up empty handed.

I majored in history and English at CSU Fullerton and took notes only from professors with Ph.D's from respected universities. Arellano's above article would earn him an F in any freshman history course.Arellano has extrapolated from scant evidence that long dead Pieper was a raving racist who rabidly sought membership in the KKK. How does Arellano arrive at his conclusion? By merely capitalizing "IT'S IN THE MEMBERSHIP FORM, PEOPLE".

There were no nooses. If Arellano had nooses, he'd have produced them by now. Even the picture that accompanies this 'series' has nothing to do with the Klan in OC.
When the Pieper's daughter participated in local history celebrations, did she ever share cute family pictures, personal mementos, special stories, or nooses that her father made?
