UC Irvine law students are holding a first-ever, all-day conference today on climate justice.

"A3 [Assemble. Advocate.Act]: A Conference on Climate Justice" examines "the social injustices faced by vulnerable populations who are disproportionately affected by climate change," according to organizers. "The event strategizes on ways to address climate justice through law, policy and coalition building."

Dean Erwin Chemerinsky joins Joseph DiMento, Deepa Badrinarayana and Eric Christiansen for an address titled, "A Constitutional Right to the Environment? A Comparative Lens on South Africa, India, and the USA."

"Innovation for Vulnerable Communities," an exploration of the international and domestic vulnerable communities disproportionately affected by climate change, features Richard Matthew, Maxine Burkett, Elizabeth Burleson and Ethan Elkind.

And, "Climate Change Litigation: One Pathway to Past & Future Relief for Climate Change Victims," a strategy session on what legal theories, venue, and defendants to use/sue in litigation going forward, includes panelists Cara Horowitz, Ann Carlson, Hari Osofsky, Neil Popovic and Mary Wood.

The gathering began this morning and continues until 6 p.m. at the School of Law. More information: www.assembleadvocateact.org/index.html.
