Buena Park Police Hold DUI Checkpoint on Beach Blvd. Tonight, Anaheim On Deck for Saturday
Anaheim police follow up with a checkpoint operation of their own farther up Beach, at the Ball Road intersection, from 8 p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday.
This will be the fourth in a series of seven planned sobriety checkpoints in Anaheim.
"The most recent DUI checkpoint held on March 12, 2011, resulted in the arrest of 6 drivers who were
under the influence of alcohol," reads an Anaheim police announcement. "Over 2,000 vehicles went through the checkpoint."
In addition to the checkpoint, the Anaheim cop shop says it has been holding regular "saturation patrols" of areas where drivers have been known to be saturated with booze.
But both police agencies warn that in addition to drunken drivers, officers at the respective checkpoints will also be confirming proper licensing. Anaheim cops will also be handing out pamphlets detailing the dangers of drinking alcohol and then climbing behind the wheel.
As in other OC cities, these operations are funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
