Events are moving fast across Northern Africa and the Middle East, and Syria is no exception. To protest the massacre of peaceful freedom fighters in the streets of their homeland, Syrian Americans throughout Southern California are gathering at the Consulate General of Syria in Newport Beach from 4 to 6 p.m. today.

The local demonstration coincides with protests planned by Syrian youth throughout the country today.

According to a notice emailed to the Weekly by Ammar Kahf:

On March 15, Syrians protested 48 years of one-party rule, state of emergency and continued repression. Security forces repressed all protests with live ammunition, water hoses and massive arrests from day one. March 23 at 2 a.m.: Syrian Special Forces stormed al-Omari Mosque in Dar'a (southern Syria) and killed more than 15. Officers also shot at 10,000 walking in the funeral procession of those killed on their way to the cemetery. France 24 reports more than 100 killed and hundreds critically injured.

The Consulate General of Syria is located at 3 San Joaquin Hills Rd. (the corner of San Joaquin Hills and Jamboree roads) in Newport Beach.

"Say no more fear; Syria will be free!" is the protesters' rallying cry.

Some people in this world are plainly stupid and will believe anything.I will speak a little more directly Americans, supposedly educated Americans who will soon be on the street wondering what happened to their way of life? The way of life that GW Bush and his little Brother gave away to Wall St, the Banks, Big Business and the Zionist-Bolshvik State of Israel.

Rashad Al-DabbaghHave you got family in Baghdad Iraq? Just a thoughtI have people their with the same last name Al-DabbaghI was listen to interviews conducted by Iranian Press-TV today in factwith some young ladies that were Assad Supporters and appeared to be College studentsrationalizing what was going of their, state that in there families there were some who support Assad and some that did not....but left it with the comment that is life. That appear to me to be a very honest appraisal of the state of affairs.I think that it is very hard, if not impossible, for most Americans to concieve of or accept the fact that the Facist State of the US in BSing them.Saudia attacks the US 9-11Yemem President Salah kills 10-40 people per dayBahrain King & Saudi Kill 10-40 people a dayall with the blessings of Obama and military sales?Thie only response the President can muster is to send Mad Dog Hillary around the world with her broom to stur up Syria and Now Iran? He's so in Love with Israel that all they have say is jump and he asks how high? What a like, we have someone, who is a Black man, wearing a Israelie Yamaka, who thinks the Zionist-Bolshviks love him?The way you tell a President of the People from a President of Walls Street, Banks, Big Business, Billionaires or the Israelies?  Read the story of the action of FDR in his Bio, or read what he said when ask during the depression about what shoud be done on their behalf?  Nothing, I believe he said" sxxxx them their all theaves".

I think that if you go to Syria, you would, you will find that a very large segment of the big Cities Support Assad.Second, if you watch the TV Coverage from the Middle East on Russian TV RT.TV Ch 203, Iranian TV Press.tv Ch 111, AlJazerra TV Ch 200 or Chinese TV Ch 10  on DISH TV it might interest you to see, and this has been the case for more than 5 months, that there are people on the sides of or in the areas close too the protestors with AK-47 s and other weapons as have been stated by the Syrians.  Also, the Syria Army capture to Israelie spys that were involved in Terrorist attacks that surrendered. So there is a lot more going on there than what you may assume. The other thing is that people go and come to Syria on a regular basis, over the past 5 months?Do that sound like it's an all out WAR ZONE.  or is it a country trying to fight for it's survival and change the game plan as it goes along? There is more going on there than meets theye, atleast the EYE of the US News media.I gave up on US Propaganda in 2001 when I first switched to AlJazerra..never felt sorry, never looked back.

I dont understand how this blog would lie about the protest, I am from syria and i was at the protest, the protest was to support the syrian president not condemn him. and just for your information, there is nothing going on in syria, all the media in the middle east and across the us are fabricating all the information and pictures and videos that they are broadcasting. Its all bs, not true.

the one "Syrian Pride" is referring to was a different demonstration in support of dictatorship. That's how much fear the Assad regime have built in Syrian people's hearts.
