Barney Frank Drops Octobomb (Again)
Is Representative Barney Frank becoming like your grandpa who keeps repeating the same story, over and over?
The Massachusetts Democrat elicited some laughs and headlines last week for comparing the largest country on the planet to La Habra's world-famous mother of 14, Nadya Suleman.
But, while getting the link for you, your intrepid reporter discovered Frank made the same crack a full month before.
Ian Talley of the Wall Street Journal reports Frank said this at a March 2 hearing featuring Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke, whose monetary policy had been blasted in Beijing for being a form of currency manipulation: "Being accused by the Chinese government of currency manipulation struck me as equivalent to being lectured on birth control by the Octomom."
Peter Schroeder of The Hill reports Frank said this at a Feb. 9 hearing of the House Financial Services Committee's domestic monetary policy and technology subcommittee: "Being accused of currency manipulation by the People's Republic of China is like getting a lecture on family planning from the Octomom."
Bernanke was speaking to a different House panel about jobs when Frank dropped the Feb. 9 Octobomb, then quickly split. Good thing because Representative Ron Paul (R-Texas), who was chairing the domestic monetary policy and technology subcommittee for the first time, advocates aborting Bernanke and the Fed.
