'The Road to the Oscars' Swings by the Lido

"The Road to the Oscars"--which ends Sunday night at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood--includes a pit stop at the historic Lido movie house in Newport Beach at 7 tonight.

That's where Regency Theatres and the Newport Beach Public Library Foundation host producer Robert Kline, who will run down the nominees, show select film clips and lead trivia games related to the 83rd Academy Awards.

Kline--a former executive vice president for 20th Century Fox, producer of Oliver Stone's Heaven and Earth, co-founder of Lifetime Television, visiting Chapman University professor, and long-time Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences member--just worked the same room. He screened his documentary Ronald Reagan: An American Journey at the Lido on Feb. 6, which what would have been the Gipper's 100th birthday.

On tap tonight are clips from films nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Lead and Supporting Actor and Actress, Best Screenplay, Best Musical Score and Best Costume Design. A "never-before seen" visual history of the Oscars is also promised. Special prizes will be awarded throughout the show.
