I have mixed feelings about this system of justice but money is one of the languages these bastards speak and comprehend. Institutionalized corruption and ephebophile/pedophile abuse is far more vicious and ruthless than horrific individual cases because the political machinery that grows up around systemic abuse feeds on the souls of its victims. Like witnessing a crime and not reporting it to a peace officer. I do not say "law enforcement" because it is juries duty to decide both the facts of the case and to ultimately enforce the law. My wife and I came to Krumm... whom (Sts Simon & Jude was our parish) we both thought was a great priest and would be understanding of our plight just as I thought Harris of MDHS was as well (both are masters of deception) ... my girlfriend (now my wife no thanks to the Catholic Church) was pregnant with our first child... we were not married and wanted to be... Fr. Gus Krumm refused to marry us! We have been married for over twenty years now and have five children. The Catholic Church left me I did not leave it. All of the files need to be audited by law enforcement and the church needs to pay for this. All three of these men belong in prison.

• Marriage for priests will not cure pedophilia. Marriage for priests will help cure the church. Celibacy is an unnatural state. It requires its adherents to suppress the great natural design of our own biology. Celibacy requires its practitioners to deny a vast element of their own humanity. Celibacy is foreign to nature. Because celibacy contradicts who we are as a species, its adherents will -- eventually -- express those desires in some other way. Prayer and cold showers are inadequate in the face of our deepest selves. Abandoning celibacy (a recent invention of the church in any case) will allow our best priests to lead normal, loving and fully informed lives. The priesthood will become less attractive to those needing the cloak of celibacy to disguise peculiar urges. Celibacy was not required until more than a thousand years after Christ. Only at the Second Lateran Council was it codified. Even then, it was slow to catch hold, as any student of the Medici Popes can attest. To this day, there is no celibacy required in the Eastern Rite, nor among Anglicans. Are they all sinners? Hardly. Celibacy is unnatural because it repudiates who we are as a species. Such insensible acts lead to disaster. We might as well pretend we weren't meant to breathe air. Humans need the loving, intimate embrace of other humans. That's who we are, and what we do. The Vatican long denied the rotation of the earth around the sun. It still denies our need to hold one another in love and intimate states of passion and truth. Celibacy is no more than a simulacrum of this love, an impostor from first to last. It will not, and cannot, suffice.

• The Church before Vatican II is the church that kept all the pedophiles out of sight and moved around. Pre-Vatican II culture was much more silent on threats. I remember the day I read a document from the Vatican stating how it was the moral obligation- on pain of excomunication- of person who had been molested or propositioned by a priest to come forward. Victims were further victimized. Since Vatican II, the church is much more open, laxed, but still troubled and flawed. And to Josesierra- marriage will not solve the pedophile problem. I'm sick and tired of idiots thinking that celibacy and pedophilia are linked. The American Psychiatric Board, the Medical Board, and behaviorists agree that pedophilia is a problem all to itself. If marriage is the solution why is it that you have married men and women pedophiles who are working in every imaginable field? Yes- there are pedophile priests and it is reprehensible, unfortunate, and disgusting, but allowing them to marry will not solve the issue. Exposing the problem will.
