OC Cannabis University Now Offers Classes en Español

Time was, all the good weed came from Mexico. After all, that's where it'd been grown for who knows how long, up in the hills of Sinaloa, Michoacan and Oaxaca. Now, the good stuff is grown north of the border, and with the legalization of cannabis for medical purposes now 15 years in the making, it's big business. There are seemingly countless strains to keep track of when it comes to California's biggest cash crop, and new techniques and technologies are being developed all the time that any serious young student of cannabis cultivation needs to know.

So it's perhaps at least somewhat ironic that GGECO University, a Rancho Santa Margarita-based cannabis-educational outfit whose acronym stands for God's Green Earth, is now offering classes in Spanish. The school, sort of a SoCal version of Oaksterdam or a marijuana version of ITT Tech, has just announced it is offering Spanish-language versions of its popular two-step educational course in cannabis.

GGECO's basic course covers cannabis law, medical cannabis, cooking, horticulture and budtending, while an advanced course features classes on running a dispensary or nonprofit, as well as more horticulture classes. For more information, you can visit GGECO's Spanish-language website here.

Renowned surveys over the past sixteen years–for example, those sponsored by the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) at Columbia University–find that the more often children have dinner with their parents, ... frequent family dinners (five to seven per week), those who have infrequent dinners (fewer than three per week) are twice as likely to use tobacco, nearly twice as likely to use alcohol, and one and a half times likelier to use marijuana.

These pot shops aren't medical. There is one next to my office. The people going in and out all day are not patients. They are messed up, dirty, street people with backpacks on and handfuls of phony "prescriptions". They go from one shop to the next and then sell on the street. They are addicts, mumbling to themselves, disheveled and dirty. I have higher hopes for America than the future that this pot craze is ushering in. Shame on OCWeekly for being a pot pusher.

Cannabis prohibition is doomed to failure, as it is based on a series of total "un-realities", which no amount of repression can make "real". Cannabis is NOT physically addictive as it lacks a documented physical withdrawal syndrome, the so-called "gateway drug theory discredited as invalid, much touted by the DEA drug Marinol is not at all the same as medicinal cannabis, smoking Cannabis does not increase the risk of lung cancer, and cannabis use suppresses violent behavior. These are REALITIES! To further say say that Cannabis plant does not have medicinal properties is simply delusional and is a complete "break" with "reality". If anti-Cannabis repression by the DEA and its allies were to be intensified, the rate of alcohol, cocaine, opiates, other hard drugs, alcohol, and dangerous prescription drugs would increase sharply. Neither the DEA, not its minions can make people perceive Cannabis as "unsafe", where is in reality it is quite safe, much safer than alcohol and other alternatives. With the rise of the use of alcohol/hard drugs, the amount of violence and mayhem in this society will also rise, something that every mother and wife should consider. In these hard economic times our so-called "representatives" do not even dare talking about cutting the bloated DEA budget, especially its so-called "marijuana" enforcement, while they are willing to discuss cutting everything else. This is because the DEA and its minions are very good with attaching labels, and no one wants to risk being "labeled" as "soft on drugs"! The employment drug tests have a potential of "screening out" "Picassos", and Lady GaGa's, and Willie Nelsons, but letting people like Charlie Sheen and Mel Gibson slip through (if the employers are "lucky"). And to say that Cannabis Plant does not have medicinal properties is simply delusional! Cannabis prohibition, as based on glaring scientific and philosophical "un-realities" can never succeed in the long run, it has a potential to do a great deal of damage to society, to exacerbate the Nation's hard drug, alcohol and violence problems, and it should be abolished ASAP!
